Cross Country, Heaton Park

Liam Renton clinched third position at the opening round of the Manchester Area Cross Country League held at Heaton Park, Manchester.The West Cheshire AC race ace posted 14 minutes 41 seconds for the 4,500m under 13 boys event, ahead of club mate Ryan Jones (26th in 17:05).James Ellis finished seventh with a time of 25:26 in the under 17 men’s race, while Robert Rogers (19th in 15:08)and MIchael Ellis (23rd in 15:34) completed the under 13 boys race.
Alec Beaney delivered 20th place in the men’s race, clocking 37:07 for the 9.6km course and helping to earn West Cheshire 14th team position. He was backed up by Andrew Clague (45th in 39:22), Simon Ellis(72nd in 40:58), Denis Duret (76th in 41:06), Louis Humphreys (98th in 42:07), Alan Littler (207th in 47:54), and Steve Russell-Ingram (253rd in 56:59).
Eleanor Robinson (58th in 40:52), Lisa Davies (72nd in 43:41), and Cathryn Rogers (77th in 44:28) completed the 8km women’s race to post 14th team position

Alec claimed first place in the junior men’s category and seventh place overall with a time of 34 minutes 34 seconds at the Sutton Six 10k Road Race, organised by West Cheshire AC, at Guilden Sutton, Chester.Alec was West Cheshire’s first finisher at the third round of the Summer Multi-Terrain League race held at Harrison Drive, Leasowe. He covered the 4.3 miles course in a time of 25 minutes eight seconds for fifth place in the under 20 junior men’s category and ninth place overall.

Cheshire League Round Up

West Cheshire AC posted top-six places in this year’s Cheshire Track and Field League.
The club’s women finished sixth, the men’s squad finished fourth, while the under 11s posted third place, and the club finished in fifth place overall.

Sian Kelman stars in Northern League Division One Promotion Match.

At the Dorothy Hyman Stadium, Cudworth Sian leapt to a new personal best of 5.63m in the final round of the long jump competition for victory and delivered 12.4 seconds for success in the 100m.

English Schools Combined Events Championships

Michael Lyness and Alice Jennings represented Cheshire at Birminghams’s Alexander Stadium. Michael scored 4592 points finishing 10th in the Inter Boys competition and Alice scored 2411 for the Cheshire Junior Girls team who finished in first place.

New County best performance at NW Combined Events open meeting

Carl Van Schie scored a new PB of 6114 points to set a new Cheshire County Championship Best Performance at the North West Combined Events open meeting at Sportcity Manchester. This score also placed him first in the overall competition.

Northern T&F League Promotion Match 31AUG2008

Carl Van Schie posts a new personal best points total of 6,082.

Carl Van Schie posted a new personal best points total of 6,082 to finish 13th in the Hexham Combined Events International. Carl competed against athletes from Holland, Lithuania, USA, Tunisia and some of the best Great Britain decathletes including Dean Macey who was chasing 8000 points for the Olympic A standard.
Carl’s results included 11.76 seconds for his 100m, a long jump of 6.38m, a new best put of 10.86m in the shot, a 1-77m clearance in the high jump, and 51.21 seconds in the 400m.
Day two included a 17.40 seconds run in the 110m hurdles, a throw of 33.62m in the discus, a new best of 3-80m in the pole vault, and a time of 4:40.54 in the 1500m.

West Cheshire AC members experience English Schools’

Seven West Cheshire AC members experienced the two-day English Schools’ Track and Field Championships at Gateshead.
Junior boy Chris Goodwin finished 4th in his heat of the 800m with a time of 2.6.13

Inter girls- Bryony Potter, clocked 42.15 for 7th place in her heat of the 300m and Sam Galley 5th in her heat of the 200m with a time of 26.11

Junior girls- Alice McMahon came 6th in her 200m with a time of 26.54 and Alice Jennings cleared 1-47m for joint 8th in the high jump competition.
They then teamed up for Cheshire in the 4x100m relay and secured fourth place in their heat with a time of 52.42

Senior girls- Kate Titlow finished 14th in a time of 10:58.89 in the 3,000m and Sian Kelman posted 5.37m for 7th position in the long jump.
Kate and Sian then combined in the 4x10m relay and finished second for Cheshire in their heat with a time of 49.81s, and sixth in the final.

Dave McKay launched a throw to a best mark of 63.74m for 10th position at the Olympic Trials held at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium.
