Alec and Laura Win Silver Medals

Alec Beaney and Laura Bestow have secured county medals at Chester Spring Five Miles Road Race.Alec came 2nd in the Cheshire Under 20 junior men’s Championships and finished third in his age group overall after posting 28 minutes 26 seconds for 13th position overall.
Laura secured a silver medal in the Cheshire Women’s Championship, clocking 32:46 for 95th position in the overall race and claiming fourth spot in the women’s race overall.

Dan Harris continued his impressive form by rounding the flat and fast five miles course in a time of 28:50 for 18th position.
Andrew Clague was next home for the purple-vested host club, clocking 30:06 for 36th place.
Jeff Kettle (48th in 30:29) finished just one second ahead of Russell Kirk in 49th position.
Max Woods completed the distance in 32:01 for 80th place, ahead of Alan Bevan, who secured 85th spot in 32:23.
Julian Clarke was West Cheshire’s next man home in 107th place with 33:15, ahead of Mark Gould (156th in 35:01), and club coach, Neil Atkinson (158th in 35:02).
Nic Ogilvie completed the course in 35:34 for 165th position, in front of under 20 junior Alan Littler (174th in 35:50), and over-60 veteran Brian Hastings who posted 35:53 for 177th position.
Christopher Cain secured 184th place in 36:04, ahead of Clive Sykes (207th in 37:14), Eleanor Robinson (209th in 37:33), and Steve Russell-Ingram (216th in 38:06).
Michael Gandy finished 224th in 38:30, ahead of Andrew Thompson (244th in 39:04), and Sacha Kendall-Woods (266th in 40:31).
Jamie Loxam (Stockport Harriers) won the race in 26:23, ahead of runner-up Richard Shearer (Southport Waterloo) in 26:57, and third placed Joshua Dixon (Abergele Harriers) in 27:00.
Nicola Bird (Ellesmere Port RC) won the ladies title in 30:11, ahead of runner-up Liz Whitfield (Spectrum Striders) in 31:00, and third placed Rebecca Harrison (Cheadle RC) in 31:17.
