WCAC Off-road Summer League 2019 Round 9: Report

A healthy 16 West Cheshire runners turned up for pie and peas, and the race of the same name that preceded it. The women were led home by Keely, in an excellent 4th place/ 1st FV35. Tom Booth led home the entire field again, as in the Ponderosa last Wednesday, so he clearly enjoys races beginning (end ending) with P’s.

The large contingent of eleven on the men’s side included four newcomers to the league: Ian Gloyne-Phillips, David Irving, Anthony Spruce and Mark Gallagher. It also meant big points on offer, enabling Tony to leap-frog Chris to take a seven-point lead into the last round, with Richard in joint 2nd and Andy just two points behind in 4th.

Ellie maintains a 15-point lead in the women’s league, while Keely and Kerry continue to move up the rankings into 2nd and 4th respectively. Standings in both women’s and men’s leagues are now up at the bottom of the off-road page.

A long break until the final round, the Cilcain Mountain Race on Bank Holiday Monday, 26-08-19. As mentioned on Facebook, a nice occasion whether or not you still want to gain those last remaining points – or stop someone sneaking past in your absence πŸ˜‰
