Alice wins gold at Northern Champs.

Alice Jennings has catapulted herself to a title-winning grade two clearance in the high jump of 1.56m to win the North of England Under 15 Girls Indoor Championship Alice also reached the 60m hurdles final and finished sixth with a grade three time of 9.97 seconds after posting a personal best of 9.86 seconds for third place in her qualifying heat.

Training partner, Abi Williams, of Deeside AAC, claimed a silver medal in the under 15 girls 60m hurdles after equalling her personal best of 9.31 seconds, and she finished fourth in her heat of the 60m with 8.41 seconds.

Leah Ferrie and Alice McMahon both returned home after pocketing bronze medals.
Leah secured third position in the under 17 ladies 200m final with a grade two time of 26.3 seconds after winning her qualifying heat in 26.72 seconds, and she added a grade three time of 8.3 seconds in her 60m heat.
Alice achieved her bronze medal after posting a new personal best grade one time of 8.13 seconds in the under 15 girls 60m final, and she finished fourth in the 200m final with a grade one time of 26.3 seconds after winning her qualifying heat.
Danielle Erskine posted a new best of 8.35 seconds in the under 17 ladies 60m, and finished eighth in the long jump with 4.68m.

Richard Farley finished seventh in his 800m heat with 2:19.45, while Dave Donkin posted 60.2 seconds for sixth spot in his under 17 men’s 400m heat.
Tom Booth clocked 9.28 seconds for fourth place in his under 17 men’s 60m hurdles heat, and rounded his 400m heat in 56.1 for fourth position.
Aidan Stoakley secured a new under 17 men’s 200m best of 24.82 for fourth place, and clocked 53.57 seconds for fifth spot in his 400m heat.
Steve Jones posted a new under 17 men’s 60m best of 7.71 seconds in his semi-final.

Lucy Earl posted a new under 15 girls 60m hurdles best of 11.49 seconds for seventh place and 30.72 for sixth place in her 200m heat.
Kelly Baker hit a new under 15 girls shot best of 8.75m for eighth place and a new 200m best of 29.16, while Tom Kellett finished seventh in the under 15 boys shot (7.90m) and was fourth in his heat of the 200m with 26.35.

WCAC boys win U11 and U15 team competitons at Sportshall

West Cheshire AC youngsters won the under 11 boys and under 15 boys competitions at the final round of the North West Sportshall League, staged at Deeside.David Donkin, Richard Farley, Stephen Jones, Joseph O’Riordan, Ryan Jones, and Michael Bailiff combined for success in the under 15 age group.
James McMahon, Jack Johnson, Matthew Pagan, Conor Rowbottom, Jack Pickering, Jamie Pearson, and Daniel Vickers claimed victory for the under 11 boys.
The under 13 boys squad of Oliver Ashworth, Alex Kirk, Yousef Khalifa, Joel Langmead, Chris McCartney, Tom Kellett, and Leon Langmead finished joint second.
Danielle Erskine, Alice McMahon, Jenni Potter, Jenna Sheehy, Alice Jennings, Karry Broster, Emma Johnson, and Gemma Hale teamed up to earn the under 15 girls second spot.
Amy Williams, Charlotte Williamson, Georgia Barlow, Olivia Williams, Sophie Baker, Tess Corr, Abbie Reynolds, Natasha Tudor, Sophie Carter, Gemma Chatterton, Toni Lammond, Rosie Webber, and Lucy Fisher clinched second spot in the under 11 girls event.
And the under 13 girls team of Lucy Earl, Kelly Baker, Laura Rigby, Olivia Montez-Brown, Laura Jones, Sally Pickering, Lydia Perry, Jennifer Munro-Brown, Chloe Hunt, and Ellen McMahon secured second position.

Carl Van Schie finishes 3rd in NoEAA Combined Events Champs

Carl scored a new Heptathlon PB of 4409 points to finish 13th in the England Athletics Senior & U20 Combined Events Championships held at Sheffield EIS, which included the Northern Athletics Champs. Carl also achieved a new PB of 11.44m in the shot.

Chris Goodwin wins U15 race & Liam Renton 3rd at Cheshire Cross Country Champs

Chris’s time of 15:47 combined with Liam Renton in 15:54, and Sean Atkinson 17:23,13th, won them silver medals in the U15 boys team race. Dave Alexander finished 2nd in the Mens Vetts race in 38:06. Round the Walls 2008

British international cross country runner Rob Whalley grabbed glory at the Shell Chester Round The Walls Boxing Day men’s race.
The Bristol and West AC member, who has represented Great Britain five times at the World Cross Country Championships, posted a winning time of 23 minutes four seconds at the event which was organised from Chester Racecourse by West Cheshire AC.

He finished well clear of last year’s Chester Walls Race winner, Bashir Hussain, representing Stockport Harriers, who clocked 23:56 for second spot.
Warrington AC’s Matthew Jackson secured third position and the first under 20 junior man prize after posting a time of 24:12, ahead of Adam Peers (Liverpool Harriers) who was fourth in 24:23, and Wirral-based Ben Reese who was fifth in 24:28.
Wrexham AC’s Darren Rowlands posted 24:28 for sixth position, ahead of former Walls Race winner, Mike Proudlove (City of Stoke AC), who clocked 25:19.
Deeside AC’s Jamie Wright completed the multi-terrain event in 25:51 for ninth spot, while Wrecsam Tri Club’s Gary Norgrove finished 11th in 26:15.
Bernie Jones (Wrexham AC) secured 13th position in 26:23, ahead of Tattenhall’s Peter Taylor (15th in 26:50), and Ken Begley (City of Chester Tri Club), who won the over-45 veteran prize with 27:25 and finished 17th overall.
Buckley Runners’ Stephen Bellis finished 18th in 27:36, while Wrexham AC’s under 20 junior, Tom Csizmadia, finished 24th in 28:40.
Jonathon Bradshaw, from Buckley Runners, grabbed 26th spot in 28:57, ahead of Deeside’s under 20 junior man, Tom Snowden, who posted 29th spot in 29:17.

Martha Hall won the women’s race, finishing 28th overall with a time of 29:15, and Jennifer Van Deelen, from Canterbury Harriers, finished runner-up in 29:45, while Joanne Stokes (Oswestry Olympians) clocked 30:42 for third position.

Wrexham AC duo Tony Parry (38th in 29:57) and Philip Walker (39th in 29:59), finished ahead of Ellesmere Port’s Michael Burns (41st in 30:01), and City of Chester Tri pair Gareth Blizzard (42nd in 30:02) and Chris Hulse (51st in 30:20).
West Cheshire AC’s Chris Rhodes finished 52nd in 30:24, ahead of other purple-vested colleagues Tom Booth (77th in 32:05) after his fun run victory earlier in the day.
Ian Crozier was West Cheshire’s next finisher, posting 111th place in 33:53, ahead of Mark Povey (126th in 34:17), Aidan Stoakley (144th in 34:58), Amanda Scott (221st in 38:12), Kerry Riley (255th in 39:43), and Steve Russell-Ingram (259th in 39:58).

Dave Alexander wins WCAC handicap

Dave Alexander battled his way home to a thrilling victory at Whitby Park, Ellesmere Port.
He clinched success in West Cheshire AC’s Cross Country Christmas Handicap following an exciting final lap over the four-lap, four miles course.
Dave was given a handicap of more than 10 minutes on the first competitors to start and managed to pick off his rivals one by one in an exciting final lap of the wet and muddy course.
He eventually clocked a net time of 24 minutes 23 seconds and an overall time of 44 minutes 33 seconds to win the overall event and the veteran over-40 plate award.
In close pursuit was Russell Kirk who achieved an overall time of 44:42 and a net time of 26:32, while Jeff Kettle, who posted an impressive run at Mold in the Borders Road Running League the week before, clocked 44:51 overall and a net time of 25:26.
Other four-lap finishers included Gary Withers who posted 46:20 for a net time of 28:10, while Olivia Beaney with 47:36 (net of 38:06) just edged home in front of Steve Russell-Ingram who achieved 47:42 (net of 38:12).
Ellen McMahon was the first member to finish in the one-lap junior race, posting 8:30 net off an overall time of 15:30, ahead of Alex Kirk with 16:19 (7:34 net), and Ryan Jones who posted 16:47 (6:47 net).

They will represent Cheshire at the Aviva North West Under 11s Indoor Fun In Sportshall Athletics Meeting, to be held at Sports City, Manchester, on Sunday, November 23.Amy Williams, Olivia Williams, Georgia Barlow, Charlotte Williamson, James McMahon, Matthew Pagan, Daniel Vickers, and Elijah Montez-Brown will travel to the event.
West Cheshire’s under 11 girls currently lead their North West Sportshall League Competition after two rounds, and the under 11 boys squad are currently fourth after their two rounds.

West Cheshire AC has won the Ellesmere Port and Neston Sports Club of the Year Award and will go forward to represent the county at the Cheshire and Warrington Sports Awards, to be held at The Park Royal Hotel, Stretton, Warrington, on Friday, November 28.

West Cheshire AC head three age category tables after the second round of the North West Sportshall League at Crewe.Sophie Baker, Georgia Barlow, Charlotte Williamson, Gemma Chatterton, Erin McFadden, Eloise Edwards, Sophie Carter, and Neve Kelman secured West Cheshire’s under 11 girls top spot after the second round.
McFadden, Chatterton, Williamson, and Barlow combined to win the sprint relay race, while Williamson posted 24.8 seconds in her two lap, Barlow clocked 54.0 seconds in her four lap, Chatteron hit 5.25m in the chest push, and Baker scored 48 in the speed bounce.
Laura Rigby, Kelly Baker, Lydia Perry, Olivia Montez Brown, Abbie Ritchie, Lucy Earl, Laura Jones, and Ellen McMahon delivered top spot for West Cheshire’s under 13 girls after the second round.
Rigby (24.2) and Baker (24.6) won their two lap races; Perry (1:27.8) and Montez-Brown (1:30.1) won their six lap events; Baker (8.98m) and Ritchie (7m) won in the shot put; while Baker won the B standing triple jump (6.01m) and Earl won the B speed bounce (76), and the relay team of Montez-Brown, Baker, Perry, and Rigby posted a winning time of 1:39.7.
West Cheshire’s under 15 boys squad of David Donkin, Richard Farley, Sam Rimmer, Stephen Jones, Joseph O’Riordan, and Ryan Jones consolidated their position at the top of the table after two rounds.
O’Riordan won the speed bounce (88) and Donkin won the B event (77), while Jones won the standing long jump (2.48m).
The relay squad of O’Riordan, Donkin, Farley, and Jones combined to post a winning time of 1:32.0.
Alice Jennings, Alice McMahon, Lauren Darch, Jenni Potter, Jenna Sheehy, Chelsea Butler, Karry Broster, and Gemma Hale teamed up for West Cheshire’s under 15 girls who are third overall after two rounds.
Jennings putted a new shot best of 8.19m for victory alongside McMahon who was third in the B event (6.45m), and Potter was second in the B standing long jump (2.05m), while Broster (76) and Darch (64) were third in their A and B speed bounce events respectively.
Jack Johnson, James McMahon, Matthew Pagan, Elijah Montez-Brown, Daniel Vickers, and Jamie Pearson combined for West Cheshire’s under 11 boys who are fourth overall after two rounds.
Pagan won his two lap (24.4) and Vickers was second in the B two lap (24.7) and first in the B chest push (5.50m) alongside McMahon who was second A (5.75m), and second in the standing long jump (1.96m).
West Cheshire Under 13 boys were represented by Tom Kellett, Leon Langmead, and Chris McCartney at Crewe, scoring 97.5 points, which earns them fourth place overall after two rounds.
Kellett won his two lap (23.2), the six lap (1:18.5), and the shot (8.81m), while McCartney was second in both the B two lap (24.9), and B six lap (1:33.4), and Langmead secured second B in the shot (6.13m) and second A in the speed bounce (66), as well as second A in the vertical jump (42).
