JAC GOODALL, Katie Clarke and Ethan Greenland made a big splash to help their club secure a top-three finish at Crewe.

Goodall and Greenland clocked new steeplechase club records at the second round of the Under 17 and Under 20 Youth Development Track and Field League, Goodall clocking a new under 17 men’s 1500m steeplechase club record of 5:04.0, and celebrating success in his race after heading the field from gun to tape. Greenland broke the under 20 men’s 2,000m steeplechase record, posting 6:56.5. Clarke delivered a new under 20 women’s 3,000m personal best time of 10:23.2 as well as winning the 1500m steeplechase in 5:38.6.

Clarke’s sister Issy posted 4:56.2 for victory in the under 17 women’s 1500m and 5:53.7 for second spot in the 1500m steeplechase.

Tipping posted 48.6 seconds for victory in the under 17 women’s 300m hurdles, while Bradley cleared a winning height of 1.65m in the under 17 men’s high jump, and Berg powered his way to 49.77m for success in the under 17 men’s hammer.

McMahon reached out to a winning mark of 6.13m in the under 20 men’s long jump, while Milligan cleared 1.90m for success in the under 20 men’s high jump,  Ford (11.8 seconds) and Kearns (23.7) won the B under 20 men’s 100m and 200m respectively, and Mageean hit 15.79m for success in the under 20 men’s B discus.

West Cheshire’s other valuable points were secured by Zac Barnsley, Ethan Greenland, Daniel Pagan, Sam Paton, Jake Gibson, Jacob Simmonds, Sion Roberts, Rory Willson, Paul Morrison, Will Rattray, Georgia Barlow, Harriet Alexander, Lily Moorhouse, Beth McMahon, and Lauren Dimbylow.

ROB LITTLE of West Cheshire AC clocked 79 minutes 54  seconds for 13th position at the Great Manchester Half Marathon ahead of Trevor Holmes who posted a new personal best of 91:47 for 164th place.

KEELY SMITH represented West Cheshire AC at the Rock N Roll Liverpool Marathon and posted 3:15:00 to secure ninth spot in the women’s standings, and Isabel Robertson posted 58:11 on Monday in the Vitality London 10,000 Race.

ROSEMARY ROGERS won the over-65 age group prize with a time of 25 minutes 20 seconds at the first round of the North Cheshire Grand Prix Series, the Dunham Massey 5k.

DAVE ALEXANDER and Ellie Robinson combined for fourth place in a time of 36:50 at the Jubilee Relay.

FIXTURES have been released for the North Wales, North Staffs, and Liverpool and District Cross Country League campaigns.

The opening round of the North Wales League will be held at Wrexham on Saturday, October 7, and the other rounds will take place at Llandudno (October 21); Bangor (November 25); Shrewsbury (January 20); and Oswestry (February 3).

Winsford will be the venue for the first round of the North Staffs League on Saturday, September 30, and the other rounds will take place at Park Hall, Stoke, on October 28; Stafford Common on November 18; and Staffordshire University (December 16).

Arrowe Park, Birkenhead, will be the setting for the opening round of the Liverpool and District League on October 28, before round two at Sefton Park, Liverpool, on November 25; round three at Beacon Park, Skelmersdale, on December 9; and the Championship race at Clarkes Gardens, Liverpool, on February 11.

ETHAN GREENLAND and Ellie Robinson both smashed club records at the Christleton 5k Road Race.

The West Cheshire Athletic Club pair produced impressive performances at the annual event, with teenager Greenland breaking Peter Benyon’s 1998 under 20 men’s record in 15 minutes 59 seconds for fifth place in his age category.

And Robinson clocked a new over-40 and over-45 women’s record of 20:15 for second place in her age group, beating the previous record held by Louise Diggle since 1999.

The duo were joined at the fixture by club colleagues Rob Little (16:53), Andy Carter (17:09), Mark Davies (17:14), Dave Alexander (17:34), Andrew Clague (17:59), Ian Gloyne-Phillips (18:11), Neil Hershaw (18:24), Luke Ellis (18:43), Richard Hayes (18:42), Lisa Davies (21:52), Pam Ackroyd (23:10), and Angela Tegg (23:45).

ROSEMARY ROGERS, Joe Foy, and Brian Beattie secured podium places at the Essar Chester Half Marathon.

The West Cheshire AC trio claimed top-three positions at the popular event which attracted more than 6,000 entrants. Rogers won her over-65 age group after clocking one hour 51 minutes 31 seconds, while Foy finished third in his over-60 age group with 1:32:50, and Beattie clocked 1:57:33 for third position in his over-70 age group.

LARA BATTERSBY and Fatoumatta Bojang celebrated a double success story for West Cheshire AC at their latest Youth Development Track and Field League match at the South Leeds Stadium.

Battersby won the under 13 girls 800m A race in a time of two minutes 33 seconds, before Bojang bagged maximum points in the B race with a time of 2:39.4. Isla Shillington teamed up with Ava Byrne for a double victory in the under 13 girls high jump, clearing 1-37m and 1-30m respectively, and Lauren Jones equalled her under 15 girls pole vault best of 1-90m.

Evie Tipping powered her way to success in the under 15 girls hammer (43.81m) and discus (24.50m), and was supported in her age group by Emma Ashcroft, Ella Dimbylow, Anna Crayston, Tamsin O’Keefe, Abigail Cartwright, Lucia Pyne, and Sophie Cribb. Jodi Bemand posted 12.06 seconds for second spot in the under 13 girls 70m hurdles and was backed up in her age group by Stephanie Jones, Imogen Pughe, and Carys Roberts.

Elliott Bujac, Casper Armstrong, Harley Shakespeare-Wetton, Leo Green, Jamie Richardson, Charlie McMullan, Regan Stubbs and Jake Lee combined for the under 13 boys.

And Michael Maxwell, Charlie Potts, Michael Ozomelam, Nathan Partington, Adam Howe, Isaac Tait, Harvey Tegg, Matthew Douglass, William Wright, Liam Farrell, Ivor Smith, and Alfie Baker delivered points for the under 15 boys.

WEST CHESHIRE Athletic Club started strongly in their bid to consolidate a place in Division One of the North of England Track and Field League.

The Chester and Ellesmere Port outfit secured second position at the opening round of the six-club contest at York and will be aiming to strengthen a foothold when hosting the next round at Ellesmere Port on June 4.

Stephanie Owens, Sophie Percival and Debra Erskine powered their way to important points in the throwing events, while Alice McMahon, Laura Turley and Georgia Barlow combined in the short sprints.

Danielle Erskine, Alice Jennings, and Maisie Tipping teamed up in the hurdles, while Beth McMahon, Katie Clarke, Ellie Robinson, and Lisa Davies combined in the distance races.

World and European Masters champion Andrew Parker made his debut for West Cheshire in the men’s sprints alongside Alan Littler, Alex Kearns, Liam Davoren, Jacob Simmonds, Zac Barnsley, and Josh Ford.

Dave McKay and Richard Stocker teamed up in the throwing events, while Ewan Bradley catapulted himself to a 3.10m clearance in the pole vault, and Andy Carter and Andrew Clague covered both the 5,000m and 3,000m steeplechase.

Sam Rimmer appeared in both hurdles races, while Richard Farley and Joseph Morrison teamed up in both the 800m and 1500m for valuable points.

EMMA HOWE, Isla Shillington and Sion Roberts starred for West Cheshire AC who capitalised on home advantage at the opening round of the Cheshire Track and Field League.

The trio all produced impressive performances to earn their club success at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village Track in the first of four rounds.

Howe secured victory in the under 17 womens javelin with a throw of 47.19m, while Shillington spun the under 13 girls discus to a winning mark of 24m, and Roberts rounded the under 17 mens 3,000m in a time of 10:09.6.

Howe was supported in her age group by Issy Clarke who won the 1500m in a time of 5:02.5, and by sprinters Harriet Alexander, and sisters Chloe and Laura Mount. Shillington was backed up in the discus by club mate and B winner Lara Battersby (15.44m), Imogen Pughe, Stephanie Jones, Fatoumatta Bojang, and Carys Roberts. And Sion Roberts was joined in the under 17 age group by Josh Ford, Jacob Simmonds, Sam Paton, Jake Gibson, 800m winner Dave Dentith, Daniel Pagan, Luke Carlile, Paul Morrison, and high jump (1.61m) and javelin (32.81m) winner Will Scott.

Ethan Greenland rounded the 3,000m in 9:21.8, ahead of Mark Davies, Greg Jones, Rory Willson, Bob Benson, Ellie Robinson and Clare Mallon, while Zac Barnsley, Jack Jones and Oliver James combined in the 100m.

Alan Littler (1-71m) and Ethan Milligan (1-65m) produced a double success in the high jump, while Joseph Morrison (28.77m) and Littler (25.26m) won in the javelin, and Morrison rounded the 800m in a winning time of 2:05.0 ahead of Greenland (2:11.9) and Littler (2:17.3).

Laura Turler clocked a winning time of 13.1 seconds in the women’s 100m, while Danielle Erskine won the triple jump (9.67m), and Georgina Moulton hit 12.64m in the javelin.

WEST CHESHIRE Athletic Club celebrated a season to remember in the Borders Road Running League.

The Chester and Ellesmere Port outfit wrapped up the seven round campaign with three team trophies and seven individual awards after the final round held at Wrexham.

West Cheshire AC’s women won the Division One and Improvers Team titles and the club’s veteran men secured success in the team competition, while Ethan Greenland, Ethan Ackroyd, Greg Jones and Rory Willson occupied the top four places in the under 20 men’s event.

Sisters Katie and Issy Clarke finished first and second overall respectively in the under 20 women’s competition, while Anest Muller finished second behind winner Nicky Whitfield-Bird in the over 35 women’s category, and Bob Benson finished third in the over 60 men’s age group.

GEORGE HYDE used his strength to bag a hat-trick of victories for West Cheshire AC at Wigan’s Robin Park Stadium.

The talented England international thrower hit 16.39m for victory in the under 17 men’s shot alongside B winner Will Scott (8.89m) in the opening round of the under 17 and under 20 Youth Development Track and Field League.

Hyde then added 41.54m in the B hammer alongside overall winner and team mate Daniel Berg (45.96m), and then won the B javelin with 31.52m alongside overall winner and team mate Will Scott (31.90m), while Will Rattray (36.45m) and Scott (33.91m) teamed up for success in the discus.

Jac Goodall celebrated success in the under 17 men’s 1500m with 4:25.5 alongside Luke Carlile (5:26.6), and Sion Roberts (10:23.1) combined with B winner Rory Willson (10:29.4) in the 1500m.

Sam Paton (12.5 ) and Jake Gibson (13.5) combined in the under 17 men’s 100m, while Jacob Simmonds (25.1) and Josh Ford (24.1) teamed up in the 200m, and Dave Dentith (55.0) and Dan Pagan (62.0) performed in the 400m, before Dentith (2:16.0) and Paul Morrison (2:38.3) rounded the 800m. Gibson, Paton, Simmonds and Ford combined to win the 4x100m relay in 48.8, while Paton, Pagan, Simmonds and Dentith teamed up for a 4x400m time of 4:04.8.

Katie Clarke rounded the under 20 women’s 3000m (10:45.1) and 1500m steeplechase (5:48.0) for a double success story, while her sister Issy won the 1500m steeplechase in 5:59.0, and Maisie Tipping celebrated victory in the 300m hurdles with 48.4.

Georgia Barlow (13.4 and 27.1) was backed up by Chloe Mount (14.6 and 29.7) in the 100m and 200m respectively.

Emma Howe powered her way to victory in the under 17 womens javelin with 45.04m and clocked 14.1 alongside Harriet Alexander (14.5 and 29.4) and Laura Mount (29.0) in the 100m and 200m, while Lauren Dimbylow (44.3) and Beth McMahon (47.5) rounded the 300m and Eve Duret posted 5:22.4) in the 1500m.

Zac Barnsley (11.8 seconds in the 100m) and (25.0 in the 200m) was supported in the under 20 men’s sprints by Alex Kearns (24.7 for 200m and 55.6 for 400m), and Joseph Morrison (56.9 for 400m).

Morrison (2:05.8) and Rory Willson (2:34.6) combined in the 800m, while Ethan Greenland won the 3000m (9:36.2) and 2000m steeplechase (7:28.5), and the quartet of Dave Dentith, Kearns, Will Rattray and Barnsley clocked 49.5 in the 4x100m relay, and Greenland, Sion Roberts, Morrison and Kearns combined with 3:56.8 in the 4x400m relay.

The popular annual fixture, part of the Cheshire Road Running Grand Prix, proved another big hit after attracting a race limit of 500 entries and sponsors Essar, represented by refinery manager, Jon Mason, communications manager, Rebecca Jones, and 15 employees who participated.

Under 20 junior Katie Clarke finished second lady in a new West Cheshire AC female club record time of 30 minutes 42 seconds which had stood since 2001, ahead of her sister, Issy, who was presented with the under 20 prize after clocking a new under 17 club age group record time of 31:54, and Keely who posted 33:10.

Greenland claimed the first under 20 men’s award after finishing eighth overall and posting a new club age group best time of 27:19.

Matthew Sheen (Vale Royal) won the race title with a time of 26:18, ahead of runner-up Paul Jones (Shrewsbury) with 26:28, and third placed Przemyslaw Tomczak (Buckley) who clocked 26:30.

Diane McVey (Wilmslow) won the women’s title in 28:58, ahead of runner-up Clarke, and third-placed Nicola Whitfield-Bird, representing Ellesmere Port Running Club, who posted 31:56.

Lee Jones was Deeside AAC’s first finisher in seventh spot with 27:08, ahead of club mate Ethan Ackroyd (16th in 27:57), and Jez Brown was first home for Buckley (11th in 27:42), while Colin Thompson (14th in 27:53) headed Helsby’s charge, and Steve Hayes (25th in 28:40) was first home for Deestriders.

FIXTURES this weekend (April 22nd/ 23rd) include West Cheshire AC’s opening round of the under 13s and under 15s Youth Development Track and Field League at Preston’s University of Central Lancashire Athletics Track, PR2 1SG, on Saturday; the UK Sportshall Athletics Final at Sportcity, Manchester, on Sunday; the London Marathon on Sunday; and the Whitley 10k, near Warrington, on Sunday.

The final round of the Borders Road Running League takes place on Wednesday, (April 26), at Wrexham, (7:15pm start).

WEST CHESHIRE AC will start their under 17 and under 20 Youth Development League squad start their campaign at Wigan on Sunday, April 30, before competing at Crewe on Sunday, May 28; Bolton on Sunday, June 25; and at Whitehaven on Sunday, July 23.

West Cheshire AC’s Northern League Division One squad will kick off their season at York on Saturday, May 6; before hosting the second round at Ellesmere Port on Sunday, June 4; travelling to Wigan on Sunday, July 9; and then going to Rotherham on Saturday, August 5.

And West Cheshire AC will host the opening round of the Cheshire League at Ellesmere Port on Sunday, May 7; before travelling to Eccles on Saturday, July 2; going to Warrington on Sunday, July 30; and hosting round four in Ellesmere Port on Sunday, September 3.
