Please note that club training for the sprints group coached by Jon Moss on Saturday morning (22nd July) at Ellesmere Port Sports Village is definitely taking place. All other group training sessions this Saturday are off.

Please also remember that club training at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village Athletics Track continues during the summer holidays. 

TRACK OFFICIALS COURSE AT EPSV

West Cheshire AC is hosting a Level One Track Officials Course on Tuesday 8th August in the Ellesmere Port Sports Village Athletics Trackside Room from 6pm. 

The Course is ideal for parents wanting to become graded officials to help the Club and the sport.

ASSISTANT CLUB COACHING COURSE AT DEESIDE

Welsh Athletics is organising an Assistant Club Coaching Course at Deeside College, Connah’s Quay, on Saturday 23rd September. 

The course is perfect for anyone who currently volunteers at the club and who wants to become a graded coach to help the Club. Details are here.

AN OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE BACK TO THE CLUB (PART 1)

Can you spare a couple of hours as a volunteer marshal at the 40th anniversary edition of the Guilden Sutton 10K on Sunday 17th September? No experience required, just the ability to don a reflective vest, point runners the right way, and perhaps vaguely clap and cheer, for which you receive free tea/ coffee and cake. Both the club and the runners themselves will be grateful for any help offered for this entirely volunteer-run local event. If you can help, please contact Dennis Wall at [email protected]

Within our club, so many people go above and beyond to provide quality athletics and running experiences. Through the regional volunteer awards, you can recognise individuals, volunteers, officials, coaches, clubs, club leaders, and projects.

Entries are now being accepted for the England Athletics U15/U17 OPEN Combined Event Championships taking place at Manchester Sport City on Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th August. Entries are limited to 32 athletes per age group. Our Northern Track & Field League squad travelled to Blackburn on Sunday and finished fourth in a keenly contested third round to set up an exciting final round at Trafford on Saturday 19th August…

Jodi won the Forest Park Ladies 5k Race, at Warrington, in a time of 19 minutes 26 seconds; Lindsay and Keely helped Cheshire win an Inter Counties Team Event in Staffordshire, while Jon and Fiona secured podium places in the Tour of Merseyside.

ELOISE ECCLES CROWNED MONTANE SUMMER SPINE CHALLENGER CHAMPION!

Many congratulations to Eloise Eccles who stormed her way through 160 miles of the Pennine Way to become the first woman and record holder in the inaugural Montane Summer Spine Challenger North Race, crossing the green in Kirk Yetholm and touching the wall of the Border Hotel (the finish), 20 miles clear of her nearest rival.

Please note that there are no club track and field training sessions this Saturday at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village Athletics Track due to the club hosting the opening round of the Northern Track and Field League for Under 17s, Under 20s, and Seniors. 

Please support your club on Saturday by competing, spectating, or helping out at the fixture with starts at 11am, but set up is from 8am and tidying away from 4.30pm.  

TRAINING LOCATION – UNDER 13 TO UNDER 20 MIDDLE DISTANCE GROUP

Training for the above group (coached by Ian Ackroyd) next Tuesday, May 23rd, will be at the Blue Planet Aquarium car park, and NOT on the grass around the outside at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village track as previously mentioned. Please meet at 6:30pm on the roads near the the Blue Planet car park.

LEVEL 1 FIELD OFFICIAL COURSE
For anyone interested, there is a Level 1 Field Official course at Deeside in two parts: i) 18:30 to 20:30 on Monday 22nd May, and ii) 18:30 to 22:00 on Wednesday 24th May.
The club is happy to fund members who want to do officials’ courses and non-competing parents, etc can join the club for free.
Remember that the minimum age for these courses is 16, so athletes should consider doing them if interested. Officiating can get you to competitions that you might not get selected for as an athlete

ASSISTANT CLUB COACH COURSE UPDATE

From February this year the Coaching Assistant qualification changed to become a remote assessment process with the coach completing four on-line modules and was then asked to film some coaching activity at their local club and submit to England Athletics.

There has been a recent update that now means England Athletics are offering the Coaching Assistant course via face-to-face option, so the coach still completes the four on-line modules but then attends a practical day to complete their practical elements, so no filming required.

England Athletics has now launched a face-to-face Coaching Assistant course for the North-West, on 3^rd June at Parrs Wood High School, East Didsbury.

For the coaches who have started the journey via the remote assessment process, Carl Foster (Regional Club Coach Lead for North West England) can now offer an opportunity to be signed off face-to-face by him. This would involve the coaches and himself travelling to a mutually agreeable location. For further details email Carl at: [email protected]
