West Cheshire AC is celebrating a double success story.
Club officials Alan Morris and Dan Gilroy have been deservedly rewarded by North West Athletics for their work in the sport.

The duo both received recognition at the England Athletics North West Awards evening held at De Vere White’s Hotel, Bolton.

Dan, who lives in Tarvin, Chester, was presented with the Services to Coaching Award after spending many hours during the last 30 years helping to guide locally-based athletes to a succession of accolades and Alan, who lives in Handbridge, Chester, was presented with the Official of the Year Award after his work as a field judge during the last year at numerous county, regional and international athletics meetings.

The pair have now been invited to attend the England Athletics Awards evening in Birmingham, on October 30, as regional winners and finalists for the national awards.

Four West Cheshire AC youngsters have been crowned county champions.James McMahon, Olivia Montez-Brown, Amy Williams, and Joseph Morrison clinched victories at Macclesfield in the Cheshire Junior Multi-Events Championships.
James McMahon and Matthew Pagan secured a one-two in the under 13 boys triathlon.
James won the event with 220 points after clocking 13.3 seconds in his 75m hurdles, clearing 1-36m in the high jump, and hitting 8.58m in the shot.
Matthew finished just four points behind in second place after posting 13.8 seconds in his 100m, long jumping 4m, and launching the javelin 22.65m.
Chris Harrop (fourth with 172 points), Elijah Montez-Brown (sixth with 166 points), and Jack Johnson (seventh with 149 points)also competed in the triathlon event.
Olivia Montez-Brown was crowned Cheshire under 15 girls pentathlon champion after scoring 2,761 points.
She started her day be clocking 12.2 seconds in the 75m hurdles, before clearing 1-49m in the high jump, hitting 8.57m in the shot, long jumping 4.71m, and rounding 800m in 2:39.3.
Amy Williams secured the under 13 girls triathlon title with 238 points, a new club and Cheshire record.
She posted 11.5 seconds in the 70m hurdles, long jumped 5.01m, and hit 7.35m in the shot.
Emily Ball (eighth in the open event with 196 points), Samhilda McGonigle (sixth Cheshire athlete with 192 points), and Charlotte Williamson (seventh Cheshire athlete with 189 points) completed West Cheshire’s under 13 girls contingent in the event.
The West Cheshire AC trio of Joseph Morrison, Jac Goodall, and Hannah Bennett combined to win the under 11 boys and girls team trophy.
Joseph also won the under 11 boys title with 172 points after long jumping 3.53m, hitting 15.75m in the javelin, and rounding 800m in 2:40.9.
Jac finished fifth boy with 135 points, and Hannah clinched third spot in the girls competition with 130 points.
Other West Cheshire AC representatives included Eamonn O’Connell (seventh boy with 124 points), Thomas Harrop (eighth boy with 120 points), Alice Woodward (ninth girl with 106 points), Alice Barnsley (12th girl with 96 points), and Beth McMahon (15th girl with 68 points).
Alice Jennings finished second in the under 17 women’s pentathlon after compiling 2,652 points.
She posted 12.9 seconds in the 80m hurdles, hit 7.22m in the shot, long jumped 4.69m, cleared 1-51m in the high jump, and clocked 2:45.8 in the 800m.
Danielle Erskine finished in sixth position with 2,052 points.
Sam Rimmer finished fourth in the under 17 men’s pentathlon with 1,767 points.
He ran 18.1 seconds in the 100m hurdles, hit 7.91m in the shot, long jumped 4.79m, cleared 1-38m in the high jump, and clocked 2:25.3 in the 800m.
Leon Langmead finished with 432 points for sixth position in the Cheshire under 15 boys pentathlon.
He rounded 800m in 3:00.1, long jumped 3.06m, high jumped 1-13m, and hit 4.33m in the shot.

Dave McKay captured a bronze medal from the England Athletics Senior Track and Field Championships staged at Gateshead.He launched the javelin to a mark of 62.36m to secure third position in the senior mens competition.

Olivia Montez-Brown headed the list of Northern England-based athletes at Stoke on Trents Northwood Stadium.The talented West Cheshire AC all-rounder topped the list of North of England representatives and secured fourth position overall in the England Athletics Under 15 Girls Combined Events Championships.
She started her pentathlon appearance by clocking 11.29 seconds in the 75m hurdles, and then long jumped 5.09m, before hitting 8.64m in the shot.
Olivia then cleared 1-51m in the high jump and completed the competition by rounding 800m in a time of two minutes 35.20 seconds to compile 2,983 points.
Olivia finished ahead of nearest North of England rivals Alyssia Carr, Leeds City AC who was runner-up and third placed Manie Wells-Nichols, Liverpool Harriers.

West Cheshire AC will head to Yorkshire on Sunday week as Northern Track and Field League divisional champions.
The Chester and Ellesmere Port clubs senior squad clinched the Division Two West title at their final league match held at Wavertree, Liverpool.
The club will now prepare to compete in the Division One Play-Off match to be staged at Cudworth, near Barnsley, on Sunday, August 15.
Multi-eventers Dave McKay, John Manning, and Niamh Reilly scored the bulk of their clubs all-important points tally to wrap up a memorable league campaign.
McKay and Manning both completed their punishing schedule of events nursing injuries after posting a series of pleasing performances to secure their club the title.
McKay launched the javelin to a winning mark of 54.71m, and powered his way to 38.15m for second spot in the hammer; 30.67m for third B in the discus; and 11.25m for second position in the shot.
Manning, who achieved 21.80m with a standing throw to merit fifth B in the javelin after injuring his hamstring, had catapulted himself to a new personal best height of 3-20m in the pole vault; clocked 71.1 seconds for fifth B in the 400m hurdles; and long jumped 5.66m for fourth position.
Reilly won the javelin with a throw of 33.26m, and added further points from the 800m (fourth B with 3:01.8); the hammer (second B with 18.19m); the discus (22.24m for fourth place); the shot (8.22m for fourth spot); and the high jump (1-30m for fourth position).
The hard-working trio were supported by A string winners Emily Clarke (5.12m in the long jump, and 10.02m in the triple jump); Shona Valentine (27 seconds in the 200m), and Gemma Hale (70.9 seconds in the 400m hurdles).

B string successes were registered by Stephen Jones (11.5/100m and 23.4/200m); Jordan Knox (5.64m/long jump); Ali Burkett (13.0/100m, and 27.0/200m); and Shona Valentine (8.92m/triple jump).

Three members secure medals at the English Schools Track and Field Championships.Kelly Baker, Victoria Anderson and Danielle Bentley represented Cheshire and claimed second-placed positions at Birminghams Alexander Stadium.
Baker, who attends Bishops High School, powered her way to a best effort of 11.94m for second place in the junior girls shot put.
Anderson, a pupil at Queens School, Chester, delivered a clearance of 1-68m to earn second position in the Inter Girls high jump competition.
And Bentley, a Whitby High School student and also a member of Sale Harriers, launched the javelin to a distance of 46.70m for runners-up spot in the senior girls competition.
Olivia Montez-Brown finished fifth with a time of 11.37 seconds in the junior girls 75m hurdles final, after posting a winning time of 11.55 seconds in her heat.
Bryony Potter, representing Merseyside, clocked 12.6 seconds for fifth position in her heat of the senior girls 100m, and Alice Jennings, representing Cheshire, finished sixth with 46.80 seconds in her heat of the inter girls 300m hurdles.
Tom Kellett hit 32.13m for 16th position in the junior boys hammer, and Stephen Jones posted 23.66 seconds for seventh place in his heat of the inter boys 200m.
Aidan Stoakley clocked 11.6 seconds for sixth place in his heat of the senior boys 100m, and Laura Rigby achieved 13.29 seconds for seventh position in her junior girls 100m heat.
