Several West Cheshire AC members will represent their county at next month’s UK Sportshall Finals.
The under 13 boys duo of Yousef Khalifa and Joel Langmead helped Cheshire qualify for the final to be held at Birmingham’s NEC, on Sunday March 22, as part of the squad that won the North West Regional Final at Robin Park Sports Centre, Wigan. Yousef cleared 1-28m in the high jump and Joel claimed 6.27m in the standing triple jump, before the pair joined forces in the 4×1 lap relay.

Danielle Erskine, Alice Jennings, and Alice McMahon teamed up for Cheshire’s under 15 girls who won their North West Final. Danielle scored 80 in the speed bounce, 2.06m in the standing long jump, and 24.1 seconds in the two lap. Alice Jennings hit 8.03m in the shot, 50cms in the vertical jump, and 51.1 seconds in the four lap, while Alice McMahon posted 23.0 seconds in her two lap, 7.02m in the shot, and 58 in the vertical jump. Alice McMahon and Danielle were part of Cheshire’s 4×1 lap relay team, and Alice Jennings partnered Jade Bramall to success in the parlaaf.

Laura Rigby, Olivia Montez-Brown, and Lucy Earl combined to earn the Cheshire Under 13 girls success at Wigan. Laura posted 24.2 in her two lap and cleared 1-17m in the high jump, while Olivia clocked 51.2 in her four lap and 6.49m in the standing triple jump, and Lucy scored 76 in her speed bounce.Laura and Olivia teamed up for Cheshire in the 4×2 lap relay, while Lucy ran in the obstacle and 4×1 lap relay.

Stephen Jones and David Donkin were part of Cheshire’s under 15 boys squad who finished second at Wigan. Stephen claimed 2.44m in the standing long jump, and 22.9 seconds in the two lap, while David scored 79 in the speed bounce, 48.9 in his four lap, and 6.94m in the standing triple jump.

Alice Jennings celebrated her 14th birthday in style.The talented West Cheshire AC teenager catapulted herself to a thrilling victory at the England Indoor Under 15 High Jump Championships.
Alice cleared a new personal best of 1-62m with her final jump to clinch a treasured gold medal.
Alice continued her memorable indoor campaign after winning the North of England Indoor Championship title last month with a clearance of 1-56m.

West Cheshire’s Alice McMahon claimed fifth place in the under 15 girls 60m final with a time of 8.03 seconds, and then finished sixth in the 200m final in 26.73 seconds.

West Cheshire AC duo Tony Kennedy (1-39) and Brian Beattie (1-41) completed the Village Bakery Half Marathon at Wrexham.

They were joined by Alan Bevan (108th in 88:04), Bob Benson (117th in 88:52), and Rhiannon Llewellyn (188th in 95:49),

The trio of Alec Beaney, Louis Humphreys and Alan Littler combined to clinch the overall team award at the Manchester Area Cross Country League.Alec Beaney won the overall under 20 individual title after finishing fourth with a time of 36 minutes 35 seconds at the final round held at Wythenshawe Park.
And Louis Humphreys captured the overall under 20 runners-up prize after finishing sixth in the final race of the series in a time of 38:47.
Alan Littler completed the team by finishing 10th at the final round with a time of 46:16.
The three juniors were joined by Steve Russell-Ingram who completed the men’s race in 172nd position after posting 51:43.
ANDREW CLAGUE completed the Liverpool and District Cross Country Championships, at Clarke Gardens, Allerton, in 38 minutes 40 seconds for 33rd position.
He was joined by Dave Hough who posted 46:26 for 80th place.

West Cheshire AC will kick-start an initiative to boost endurance running later this month.The Chester and Ellesmere Port-based club are planning to benefit from an open meeting organised by club Officials John Driscoll and Chris Rhodes, to be held at Cheshire County Sports Club Pavilion, Upton, on Tuesday, February 24 (8.30pm start).
The pair have teamed up in a bid to generate interest in distance running within the club and are inviting current members to attend and express their views on the subject.
John Driscoll, a vice-president at West Cheshire AC, introduced Endurance Running Cup competitions for both men and women within the club a year ago as he was concerned about the dwindling number of members actually competing in road races.
The points-system determined Andrew Clague and Mary Radford as West Cheshire AC’s inaugural cup winners.
But now both John and West Cheshire AC’s newly-appointed road running secretary, Chris, are keen to build up the interest of distance running within their club.
The twin aims of the meeting are to try and decide how to improve performance and participation, and set the ball rolling.
Anyone wanting to attend the open meeting should contact either John Driscoll on [email protected] or Chris Rhodes on [email protected] at least a week before February 24 to assist with numbers for catering reasons as refreshments will be provided free of charge.

Jessica Thomas completed a clean sweep of race wins at West Cheshire AC Schools’ Cross Country Race Series.The Farndon pupil celebrated her fourth consecutive victory in the year four girls event staged at Cheshire Oaks High School, Ellesmere Port, and secured a comprehensive race series win. Her final round success was clocked at five minutes 56 seconds, ahead of runner-up Ella Robson, from Thomas Wedge, who posted 7:09, and third placed Imogen Hopkins from Farndon,7:41.
Sally Pickering, Whitby High, strode her way to victory in the Year Seven girls event in a time of 14 minutes 40 seconds.
Ellen McMahon Upton, was the Year Seven girls race series winner after securing success in first three rounds.
Ffion Douglas, Farndon, won the final round of the Year Six girls event a fraction ahead of runner-up Emily Graham, Farndon, who clocked an identical time of 11:20.
Tess Corr, Oldfield, won the overall Year Six girls race series award after winning two of her three series appearances.
Rosie Webber, St Saviours, won the Year Five girls final round race in 7:53, from runner up Cora Finlay, St Saviours, in 7:56 who won the overall race series award, and third placed Dominika Sadczuk,St Saviours, who clocked 8:10.
Chris McCartney, Queens Park High won the Year Seven boys fourth round race in 12:40, but Christleton High’s Toby Palin was the race series winner after winning three of the four rounds.
Farndon’s Thomas Milburn won the Year Six Boys race in 9:09 and the overall series award, beating school colleague, Matthew Tuite, who was second, and Deri Corfe, Dee Point, in third spot.
Elijah Montez-Brown, St Saviours, won the Year Five boys race in 6:47 and won the overall award, ahead of second placed round four runner, Josh Boothman, Farndon, and Callum Felwell,St Saviours, in third.
Henry Eddleston Farndon, won the Year Four boys fourth round race in 6:18 and won the overall series, from Matthew Garner, Acresfield, who was second overall, while Wilf Smith, Overleigh, secured third place at the final round.

Alice Jennings has catapulted herself to a title-winning grade two clearance in the high jump of 1.56m to win the North of England Under 15 Girls Indoor Championship Alice also reached the 60m hurdles final and finished sixth with a grade three time of 9.97 seconds after posting a personal best of 9.86 seconds for third place in her qualifying heat.

Training partner, Abi Williams, of Deeside AAC, claimed a silver medal in the under 15 girls 60m hurdles after equalling her personal best of 9.31 seconds, and she finished fourth in her heat of the 60m with 8.41 seconds.

Leah Ferrie and Alice McMahon both returned home after pocketing bronze medals.
Leah secured third position in the under 17 ladies 200m final with a grade two time of 26.3 seconds after winning her qualifying heat in 26.72 seconds, and she added a grade three time of 8.3 seconds in her 60m heat.
Alice achieved her bronze medal after posting a new personal best grade one time of 8.13 seconds in the under 15 girls 60m final, and she finished fourth in the 200m final with a grade one time of 26.3 seconds after winning her qualifying heat.
Danielle Erskine posted a new best of 8.35 seconds in the under 17 ladies 60m, and finished eighth in the long jump with 4.68m.

Richard Farley finished seventh in his 800m heat with 2:19.45, while Dave Donkin posted 60.2 seconds for sixth spot in his under 17 men’s 400m heat.
Tom Booth clocked 9.28 seconds for fourth place in his under 17 men’s 60m hurdles heat, and rounded his 400m heat in 56.1 for fourth position.
Aidan Stoakley secured a new under 17 men’s 200m best of 24.82 for fourth place, and clocked 53.57 seconds for fifth spot in his 400m heat.
Steve Jones posted a new under 17 men’s 60m best of 7.71 seconds in his semi-final.

Lucy Earl posted a new under 15 girls 60m hurdles best of 11.49 seconds for seventh place and 30.72 for sixth place in her 200m heat.
Kelly Baker hit a new under 15 girls shot best of 8.75m for eighth place and a new 200m best of 29.16, while Tom Kellett finished seventh in the under 15 boys shot (7.90m) and was fourth in his heat of the 200m with 26.35.

West Cheshire AC youngsters won the under 11 boys and under 15 boys competitions at the final round of the North West Sportshall League, staged at Deeside.David Donkin, Richard Farley, Stephen Jones, Joseph O’Riordan, Ryan Jones, and Michael Bailiff combined for success in the under 15 age group.
James McMahon, Jack Johnson, Matthew Pagan, Conor Rowbottom, Jack Pickering, Jamie Pearson, and Daniel Vickers claimed victory for the under 11 boys.
The under 13 boys squad of Oliver Ashworth, Alex Kirk, Yousef Khalifa, Joel Langmead, Chris McCartney, Tom Kellett, and Leon Langmead finished joint second.
Danielle Erskine, Alice McMahon, Jenni Potter, Jenna Sheehy, Alice Jennings, Karry Broster, Emma Johnson, and Gemma Hale teamed up to earn the under 15 girls second spot.
Amy Williams, Charlotte Williamson, Georgia Barlow, Olivia Williams, Sophie Baker, Tess Corr, Abbie Reynolds, Natasha Tudor, Sophie Carter, Gemma Chatterton, Toni Lammond, Rosie Webber, and Lucy Fisher clinched second spot in the under 11 girls event.
And the under 13 girls team of Lucy Earl, Kelly Baker, Laura Rigby, Olivia Montez-Brown, Laura Jones, Sally Pickering, Lydia Perry, Jennifer Munro-Brown, Chloe Hunt, and Ellen McMahon secured second position.

Chris’s time of 15:47 combined with Liam Renton in 15:54, and Sean Atkinson 17:23,13th, won them silver medals in the U15 boys team race. Dave Alexander finished 2nd in the Mens Vetts race in 38:06. Carl scored a new Heptathlon PB of 4409 points to finish 13th in the England Athletics Senior & U20 Combined Events Championships held at Sheffield EIS, which included the Northern Athletics Champs. Carl also achieved a new PB of 11.44m in the shot.
