ENTRIES are still being accepted for next month’s Guilden Sutton 10k Road Race.
Host club West Cheshire Athletic Club will be staging the popular fixture which will come under starter’s orders at 11am on Sunday, September 15.
West Cheshire AC will be hoping to repeat the success they enjoyed when the event was held last year when the purple-vested menβs team grabbed glory and the fixture attracted 225 entries.
Graham Wells (first over-45 man in 35:42), Jon Park (eighth man in 35:50), Steve Fernyhough (second over-40 man in 36:50), and Andrew Clague (second over-55 man in 39:30) combined for success.
Ellis Hancock won the under 20 man’s age group category with a time of 40:04, while Andrew Barratt was third under 20 man in 43:05 and Joy Hickman secured second spot in her over-55 age group with 46:02.
Robert Weston (Shrewsbury AC) won the title with a time of 34:12, ahead of runner-up Mike Fryer (Helsby RC) in 34:25, and third-placed Will Kozer (34:54), while Sarah Hunter (Ackworth Road Runners) won the ladies title in 36:31, ahead of Joanna Marsden (Cheshire Dragons) in 36:51, and South Cheshire Harriers won the ladies team title.
The 10K start is about 500 metres from Guilden Sutton Village Hall (Race HQ, number/chip collection and where the finish is).
The course consists of two loops, the first 3.2km followed by a larger loop. The first 4.2km undulates, passing twice under and once over the A55 bypass, after which the course is fairly flat.
There is a drinks station at approximately 6.8km where the footpath is wide and, the footpath then takes runners to the lowest point of the course at 8km. There are then a couple of short rises to the finish at the Village Hall.
The main race is supplemented by a 1.5 miles fun run around the village which starts at 12.15pm and entries will be accepted on the day inside Guilden Sutton Village Hall.
