Press Report: Cheshire Honours for WCAC Youth

WEST CHESHIRE Athletic Club members will line up for Cheshire at this Saturday’s Mason Trophy Inter Counties Track and Field Championships.
Jayden Walls and Kade Harris will team up for their county in the junior boys 200m at Stoke on Trent’s Northwood Stadium, while Reggie Medland will compete in the 100m hurdles, and Jayden Clarke will participate in the high jump.
Freya Whittaker (high jump), Amelia Owen (shot put), Amber Cogan (200m), and Rose Sheppard (300m) will combine in the junior girls age group.
Dan Crosby (high jump), Charlie Rice (discus), and Dylan Gledhill (javelin), will compete in the intermediate boys age category.
And Imogen Fives (200m), Erin Barnard and Eleanor Wheeler (300m), Liliana Boelger (400m hurdles), and Evie Whittaker and Evie Smith (high jump), will team up in the intermediate girls events.
AMELIA OWEN celebrated a new Championship Best Performance on Saturday at the Cheshire Track and Field Championships held at Ellesmere Port Sports Village.
Amelia hit 9.73m for victory in the junior girls shot put, one of several West Cheshire youngsters who delivered podium places at the event.
Imogen Fives, Alba March, Jayden Walls, Freya Whittaker and Evie Whittaker all celebrated victories at their home venue despite the challenging blustery conditions.
Imogen clocked a new intermediate girls 200m personal best of 26.1 seconds, while Alba, who has already achieved English Schools Championship qualifying times in both the Senior Girls 100m and 200m, posted winning times of 12.6 and 25.8 respectively on Saturday.
Jayden won the junior boys 200m in 24.9, ahead of club mate, Kade Harris who was second in 25.9.
Sisters, Freya and Evie, cleared winning heights of 1-48m and 1-55m respectively to win the junior and intermediate girls high jump competitions.
Dan Crosby finished second in the intermediate boys high jump with 1-60m, while Erin Barnard clocked 43.3 for second spot in the intermediate girls 300m.
Jacob Gardner posted 11.8 and 23.4 for second spot in the senior boys 100m and 200m respectively.
Dylan Gledhill hit 38.18m for second position in the intermediate boys javelin, while Abigail Morait finished third in her 100m final with a new personal best of 13.4 seconds.
ELLA BIBBY won the senior girls 200m in a time of 24.6 at Bebington Oval in the Merseyside Schools Championships.
Ella was joined at the fixture by Faith Draisey who clocked 53.5 for second place in the under 16 girls 300m hurdles, and by Josh Stirling who clocked 22.7 for second spot in the senior boys 200m.
FIXTURES this weekend include the Mason Trophy Inter Counties Track and Field Championships at Stoke on Trent on Saturday, and the Northern Track and Field League Premier West Division fixture being hosted by West Cheshire AC at Ellesmere Port Sports Village, on Sunday.
