The Club has a clash of fixtures on Sunday, 19th May, with the Chester Half Marathon being held on the same day as the first round of the Northern Track & Field League at Witton Park, Blackburn.

The Club has signed a contract with race organisers Active Leisure Events Ltd to provide up to 50 officials/volunteers for the Chester Half Marathon in return for a much-needed sum of money which helps the Club survive, so we need to ensure the Club fulfills this commitment.

But we also need to provide a minimum number of 6 officials/helpers at Blackburn for the Northern League fixture (1 Track Judge=5 Points, 1 Time Keeper=5 Points, 4 Field Judges (5 Pts each)=20 Points, TOTAL=30 Points (Max), and Clubs providing this minimum number of 6 officials will be awarded an additional 15 points giving an overall total of 45 points.

Mike Lamb has already agreed to travel up to Blackburn to officiate after helping out at the Chester Half Marathon, but can you please let Dennis know if you are available to officiate/help the club at the Northern Track & Field League Match at Blackburn and/or the Chester Half Marathon by emailing: [email protected]

Race director Ellie Robinson has revealed that this Wednesday night’s Essar Chester Spring Five Miles Road Race has received 500 entries.

Help is still needed from members, parents and friends to ensure the popular event at Cheshire Sports Club, Upton, proves another success. If you can help please email Dennis at: [email protected]

The Club would like to thank all those members, officials, parents, and friends, who helped make the recent Club Track and Field Trials a big success. The results are now posted on the Track Office door.

Members who didn’t compete in the trials are being urged to take part in one of several open meetings listed at the bottom of this Newsletter.

Entries are now being accepted for the Cheshire AA Track & Field Championships being held at Victoria Park, Warrington, on May 11 and 12. Details can be found here.

Members who are in the under 13 age group and above are reminded that high jump and long jump training sessions will be held at the EPSV track on Mondays from 6:30pm. The cost of these sessions is £2.50.

There will also be hurdles training and middle distance running sessions taking place on Mondays from 6:30pm. The cost of these sessions is also £2.50

If anyone has used a stopwatch from the Ellesmere Port Sports Village Track Office can they please return it ASAP? Many thanks.

All parents of youngsters attending track training sessions are reminded to collect their sons and daughters from the track – not from the car park. The Club wants to ensure everyone stays safe and that every youngster safely leaves every track training session.

Anyone wanting to purchase club vests (£17) and/or hoodies (£15) is reminded that parents Vikki Brett and Joanne Lark will sell club kit at the EPSV Track Office AFTER Tuesday night training sessions.

Payment can be made by cash or by cheque, made payable to West Cheshire AC.

The Club needs urgent help, support, and assistance from parents during Tuesday evening training sessions at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village Athletics Track (6.30pm-8pm).

The club currently has a waiting list for under 11s, and this situation can only be resolved by asking parents to volunteer on a rota basis at Tuesday night training sessions.

PARENTS who can help should contact Dennis Wall on 07968643038 or email: [email protected]

All Club members are being invited to support our club by completing the Track & Field Online Management Course to help West Cheshire AC look after the Ellesmere Port Sports Village Athletics Track. Further details can be found here.

Club member Heather McLintock is a qualified physiotherapist and offers substantial discounted prices for West Cheshire AC members on production of their membership card. Heather can be contacted on 01244 381350 or 07885 462487.
