THIS WEEKEND

Youngsters who train in the under 11s, under 13s, and under 15s group at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village Athletics Track should note that this Saturday morningโ€™s training session has been cancelled, due to a cross-country fixture on the site being organised by the Club.

Youngsters (years 3-8) are being invited to take part in the free-of-charge cross country event, with registration from 9.15am and the first race starting at 10am. For more details, see the bottom of the Off-road page of the club website.

Saturday training at EPSV will resume from 9th March.

THIS SUNDAY
Sees the latest round of the Borders Road Running League taking place at Birkenhead Park (11am start). Further details can be found here.

DAN GILROY

The Club’s most experienced coach, Dan Gilroy, will unfortunately no longer be able to attend regular training sessions due to medical reasons and his move away to Bath.

The Club is inviting members to send their best wishes to Dan by adding messages to a ‘Thinking of You Card’ which is currently placed on the table in the EPSV Track Office.

FREE CHESTER HALF-MARATHON PLACES

The Movement Centre has 5 free places available in the Chester Half Marathon, for anyone prepared to raise ยฃ150+ for the charity and to raise awareness (via their participation in the race) of this little known organisation.

The Centre has bespoke standing frames which are adjustable to vary the support given to different parts of the body so that kids can build up their core strength bit by bit working down from their head to hips. Although Oswestry-based, they treat children from across the country as they are the only centre that provides this therapy and standing frames. As well as raising money, the charity is looking to raise awareness as they are not that well known.

If you are interested, please contact Curtis Langley, Fundraising and Marketing Officer for the Movement Centre, at
[email protected], or 01691 404248.

CLUB DONATION TO CLAIRE HOUSE CHILDREN’S HOSPICE

Margaret Lister from Clare House Children’s Hospice received a cheque for ยฃ70 from Club members last week which was raised from the Christmas Fun Morning held at Ellesmere Port Sports Village.

CHECK YOUR IRON LEVELS

A number of Club members have found they have been struggling in training sessions and competitions due to Iron deficiency and anyone in this situation is urged by the club’s coaching staff to book an appointment with their GP and request an Iron deficiency test.

Iron is essential for athletic performance. It is the component of hemoglobin in your red blood cells that transports oxygen to your cells and carries carbon dioxide away. The brain also relies on oxygen transport, and without enough iron, you will find it hard to concentrate and feel tired and irritable. Iron is also needed to maintain a healthy immune system. If you don’t have enough iron you may be prone to more frequent infections.

CLUB EGM

All fully paid up members are being invited to attend an Extraordinary General Meeting on Tuesday, 12th March, at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village, starting at 8pm.

Each fully paid up first claim member aged 14 or over, present at the meeting shall be entitled to vote.

AGENDA: 1. Electing Vice-Presidents; 2. Electing the Honorary Auditors.

PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

All parents of youngsters attending track training sessions are reminded to collect their sons and daughters from the track – not from the car park. The Club wants to ensure everyone stays safe and that every youngster safely leaves every track training session.

CLUB KIT

Anyone wanting to purchase club vests (ยฃ17) and/or hoodies (ยฃ15) is reminded that parents Vikki Brett and Joanne Lark will sell club kit at the EPSV Track Office AFTER Tuesday night training sessions.

Payment can be made by cash or by cheque (made payable to West Cheshire AC).

URGENT HELP NEEDED

The Club needs urgent help, support, and assistance from parents during Tuesday evening training sessions at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village Athletics Track (6.30pm-8pm).

The club currently has a waiting list for under 11s, and this situation can only be resolved by asking parents to volunteer on a rota basis at Tuesday night training sessions.
