ANEST MULLER and Lisa Davies demonstrated record-breaking form at the Christleton 5k Road Race.

The West Cheshire duo smashed age group club records, with Muller clocking a new over-35 womens best of 19:56 for eighth spot in her age category, and Davies posting 21:41 for a new over-45 womens best to secure third position in her age category.

They were supported by Ellie Robinson who was eighth in her over-40 age group with 20:43, Anne-Marie Tait (seventh over-45 lady in 24:26), and Kay Hayes (11th over-35 lady in 24:28).

West Cheshire AC under 20 year old distance runner Christy Mageean clocked 16:47 seconds to secure 69th position, just eight places in front of club mate Dave Alexander who achieved 16:59 for eighth spot in his over-45 age group.

Rob Little continued his impressive form on the back of the Chester Half Marathon, posting 17:15 for 94th position at Christleton, clocking an identical time to Mark Davies who finished 100th.

Graham Wells completed the flat and fast course in 17:47 for 129th position, and was backed up by Ian Gloyne-Phillips (142nd in 17:56), Andrew Clague (154th in 18:19), and Andy Carter (166th in 18:28).

Dave Bish won his over-70 age group category with 23:25, ahead of Brian Beattie, who was fourth in the same age group with 26:01.

EWAN BRADLEY catapulted his way to a winning height of 3.05m in the under 15 boys pole vault at South Leeds Stadium. Bradley achieved the English Schools qualifying standard, and was backed up by team mate Adam Howe who won the B event with 1.80m.

Bradley also added points in the 80m hurdles, and was supported in his age group by Harvey Culverhouse, Michael Ozoemelam, Sam Paton, Jacob Simmonds, Sonny Dean, Harvey Tegg, Sion Roberts, Charlie Potts, Matthew Webb, Will Scott, and Daniel Pond.

Dylan Bugg, Isaac Tait, Michael Maxwell, and Ethan Butler all celebrated success in the under 13 boys competition.

Bugg won the 800m, while Tait and Butler combined for A and B 1500m victories, and Maxwell won the high jump and B 75m hurdles.

The quartet were backed up by Uzezi Onomerike, Gabrial Ford, Henry Robinson, Leon Moorhouse, and Ivor Smith.

Evie Tipping and Raimi Harrison delivered a double success for West Cheshire in the under 15 girls hammer. The duo were supported by Chloe Mount, Harriet Alexander, Emily Misantoni, Tamsin O’Keefe, Molly Jones, and Lauren Jones.

Nia Forshaw (B high jump) and Lucia Pyne (B 1200m) secured success in the under 13 girls age group. The pair were backed up by Emma Ashcroft, Ella Dimbylow, Lara Battersby, Stephanie Jones, Imogen Pughe, and Jodi Bemond.

WEST CHESHIRE Athletic Club members pocketed 35 gold medals at the Cheshire Track and Field Championships.

The Ellesmere Port Sports Village-based outfit impressed at the annual two-day fixture held at Macclesfield where they also secured 13 silver medals and 16 bronze awards.

Isaac Tait celebrated a double success story with victories in the under 13 boys 800m (2:24.44) and 1500m (4:55:83), alongside double winner Abi Pawlett who claimed the under 15 girls high jump (1-54m) and shot put (8.96m) titles.

Dave McKay grabbed glory in the senior men`s discus (32.30m), shot put (11.29m), hammer (45.41m), and javelin (52.73m), while James McMahon scored a hat-trick of titles from the under 20 men`s long jump (6.45m), shot put (10.80m), and 110m hurdles (15.39 seconds).

Ethan Milligan catapulted his way to a personal best of 1.92m to win the under 17 mens high jump and added a victory 24 hours later in the triple jump (11.30m), while Will Scott powered his way to top spot in the under 15 boys javelin (30.25m) and discus (27.93m).

Evie Tipping threw the under 15 girls hammer to a winning distance of 37.09m, while Emma Howe launched the under 17 womens javelin to a winning mark of 37.39m, George Hyde hit 14.43m for success in the under 17 mens shot put, and Sophie Percival nailed 39.81m for victory in the under 20 womens javelin.

Katie Clarke rounded the under 20 womens 3,000m in a winning time of 10:48:33, and Georgia Barlow blasted her way to success in the under 20 womens 200m in 25.95 seconds, while Isobel Griffin Morris spun the under 17 womens discus to a winning mark of 37.69m.

Ethan Butler cleared 1.25m for victory in the under 13 boys high jump, while Lara Battersby won the under 13 girls discus with 13.34m, and Lauren Dimbylow clocked 13.87 seconds for success in the under 17 womens 80m hurdles.

Matthew Pagan (49.37), Mark Hearn (51.37) and Shona Valetine (60.03) won the under 20, senior men`s and senior women`s 400m titles, while Sonny Dean was crowned under 15 boys 800m champion with a time of 2:14:53, and Richard Farley clocked 4:19.62 for success in the senior mens 1500m.

Daniel Berg (43.50m) and Debra Erskine (22.96m) won the under 17 mens and senior womens hammer competitions, while Alan Littler cleared 1-65m for victory in the senior men`s high jump, Ewan Bradley achieved a winning height of 2-80m in the under 15 boys pole vault, and Danielle Erskine long jumped to success with 4.90m in the senior women`s event.

ROBERT LITTLE headed West Cheshire AC`s charge at the Chester Half Marathon, clocking a time of one hour 20 minutes 32 seconds for 43rd position.

WEST CHESHIRE Athletic Club produced a solid start to life in the top flight.

The Ellesmere Port Sports Village-based senior men`s and women`s squad finished fourth in their first ever North of England Track and Field League Division One appearance.

Sophie Percival, Ethan Milligan, and Dave McKay all celebrated individual victories at the fixture staged in blistering hot conditions at Wakefield.

Percival, a student at the University of Chester, launched the javelin to a winning mark of 39.94m and hit a new shot put personal best of 11.31m alongside B winner Kelly Baker (10.30m).

Milligan elevated himself to a winning clearance of 1-90m in the high jump, and McKay threw the javelin to a winning distance of 54.33m.

Andrew Clague won the B 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 11 minutes 23.9 seconds and provided back-up for Tom Booth who finished third overall in 10:56.5.

Booth also clocked 17:58.2 in the 5000m alongside Clague who clocked 18:17.1, and Booth added important points from the pole vault (2.40m), 400m hurdles (71.6) and B 110m hurdles (22.4).

Zac Barnsley sprinted to times of 11.9 and 25.9 seconds in the 100m and 200m alongside James McMahon in the B 100m (11.9) and Liam Davoren in the B 200m (25.4).

Alex Kearns clocked 54.5 in the 400m alongside Alan Littler who posted 57.6 in the B race.

Richard Farley rounded the 800m in 2:02.7 and the B 1500m in 4:56.4), while Ethan Greenland clocked a new personal 800m best of 2:14.0 in the B race, and posted 4:39.2 in the 1500m.

McKay, who secured good points from the 110m hurdles, hammer, discus, triple jump and shot, was supported by Richard Stocker who was second in the B shot (10.93m), third in the discus (36.91m), and third in the B hammer (32.31m).

McMahon (6.39m) and Milligan (5.63m) combined in the men`s long jump, and Milligan triple-jumped 11.59m.

Alice McMahon headlined in the short sprints, with times of 12.8 and 26.0 alongside Shona Valentine (13.3) and Georgia Barlow (27.0), before Valentine (61.8) and Maisie Tipping (65.1) teamed up in the 400m.

Katie Clarke posted a new 3000m personal best of 10:51.8, alongside Ellie Robinson (12:22.5), who also rounded the 800m in a personal best 2:35.0. Lisa Davies earned valuable points in running times of 2:48.2 in the 800m and 5:48.5 in the 1500m.

Alice Jennings clocked 70.1 in the 400m hurdles alongside B winner Danielle Erskine (76.2), and the duo combined in the 100m hurdles with times of 17.3 and 17.8 respectively, as well as in the long jump with Erskine nailing 4.97m and Jennings 4.44m, and in the triple jump with Erskine hitting 9.46m, and Jennings managing 9.23m.

Jennings cleared 1.55m in the high jump alongside Tipping (1.40m), while Debra Erskine hit 24.31m in the hammer alongside Percival (21.19m) who also achieved 27.07m in the discus.

McMahon, Valentine, Barlow and Danielle Erskine then teamed up for a winning time of 50.1 in the 4x100m relay.

Vince Hodges (12th in 22:11) was West Cheshire\’s first finisher at the Ellesmere Port 5k ParkRun, ahead of Harvey Tegg (14th in 22:14), Liam Farrell (15th in 22:15), Louis Tegg (28th in 23:57), Tony Kennedy (30th in 24:04), Rosemary Rogers (fifth lady in 25:14), and Dave Hough (47th in 27:10).

ALEX STANIFORTH will provide an illustrated talk and book signing this Friday about his expeditions to Mount Everest.

The Chester-born adventurer will present the gripping true story of his journey, from his hometown to the top of the world – Mount Everest.

The long distance runner, aged 20, faced obstacles through childhood such as epilepsy, stammering, mental health problems and bullying, to eventually become part of the two biggest disasters in Everest history.

Both attempts to reach the summit ended in tragedy with the 2014 avalanche, and last year, where he narrowly survived the avalanche triggered by the Nepal earthquake.

His debut book ICEFALL, endorsed by Bear Grylls, tells an inspirational account of overcoming adversity and this is your chance to hear the experiences first-hand and get a signed copy.

The talk and book signing, being hosted by West Cheshire Athletic Club, will take place at Cheshire County Sports Club, Plas Newton Lane, Upton By Chester, CH2 1PR, this Friday, (May 13), with doors opening at 6.30pm, the talk starting at 6.45pm, and the event scheduled to finish at 8.30pm.

WEST CHESHIRE Athletic Club blasted their way to an emphatic victory at Bury.

The purple-vested under-17 and under-20 juniors celebrated a 92-point winning margin in the opening round of their Youth Development Track and Field League campaign.

Sophie Percival and George Hyde spearheaded the Ellesmere Port Sports Village-based outfit`s charge to success by each securing a hat-trick of victories.

Percival spun the under 20 womens discus to a mark of 24.06m, hit 37.29m in the javelin, and powered her way to success with 10.62m in the shot.

Hyde provided solid back-up after hitting 14.68m in the under 17 mens shot, throwing the hammer to a mark of 38.32m, and launching the javelin to 31m.

Georgia Barlow celebrated an under 20 womens sprint double in the 100m (13.2) and 200m (27.1), while Isobel Griffin Morris grabbed glory in the under 17 womens discus with 37.88m, and Lauren Dimbylow cleared 1-45m for victory in the under 17 womens high jump.

Maisie Tipping clocked a winning under 17 womens 300m time of 45.8 seconds, while Emma Howe nailed a winning under 17 womens javelin throw of 36.78m.

Other important womens squad point scorers included Katie Clarke (second in the 3000m with 10:55.7), Issy Clarke (second in the u17 womens long jump with 3.85m), Georgina Moulton (first B discus with 15m, first B javelin with 8.11m, and first B shot with 6.04m), Alice Barnsley (second u17 womens long jump with 4.07m), and Keane Harrison (second B u17s 300m with 47.9).

The u17 womens quartet of Dimbylow, Howe, Barnsley, and Tipping won the 4x100m relay in 56.3 seconds, and the u20 womens 4x100m team of Percival, I Clarke, McMahon, and Barlow posted 55.9 for second spot.

James McMahon achieved maximum points in the u20 mens shot (10.65m) and long jump (6.24m), and was backed up by Ethan Milligan who cleared a winning height of 1-80m in the u17 mens high jump.

Ethan Greenland (9:53.1) and Rory Willson (11:01.4) were A and B under 17 mens 3000m winners, while Daniel Berg won the u17 mens hammer (42m), Will Rattray was first B in shot (8.17m), and Alex Kearns won the B 100m (12.2).

The mens team received important support from Charlie Douglas (fourth in u17 mens 100m with 12.8), Jake Gibson (sixth B in u17 mens 100m with 14.0), Josh Ford (second in u17 mens B 400m with 59.9), David Dentith (second in u17 mens 1500m with 4:31.7), Patrick Tait (second in u17 mens B 800m with 2:40.5), and Jac Goodall (second in u17 mens B 1500m with 4:37.8).

WEST CHESHIRE Athletic Club secured no fewer than 11 prizes at the final round of the Borders Road Running League.

And both mens and womens teams secured their places in Division One next season after a series of noteworthy performances at Prestatyn.

Katie Clarke, Anest Muller, and Ellie Robinson completed the campaign with awards in their respective age groups, with Clarke winning the under-20 prize, Muller finishing third female overall, and Robinson achieving second spot overall in her over-40 age group.

Bob Freeman celebrated success in his over-60 age group ahead of third-placed Bob Benson, while Ethan Greenland and Brian Beattie were runners-up in the under-20 and over-70 men`s age groups respectively.

Graham Wells secured fourth place overall in his over-40 age group, while Andy Carter and Andrew Clague finished fifth and sixth respectively in the over-45 age category, and Dave Tiernan finished fifth overall in his over-50 age group.

WEST CHESHIRE Athletic Club`s youngsters produced a memorable Premier Division debut in the Youth Development Track and Field League.

The club`s under 13 and under 15 members secured second spot at the opening round .
Harvey Culverhouse, Sam Paton, Jacob Simmonds, Adam Howe, Matthew Webb, Daniel Pond, Will Scott, and Ewan Bradley secured victories in the under 15 boys age group at Hull`s Costello Stadium.

Culverhouse won the B 100m (12.5 seconds), while Paton clocked 25.5 for victory in the B 200m, and Simmonds (41.2) and Howe (45.4) combined for success in the 300m.

Webb clocked 15.1 for victory in the 80m hurdles, while Pond won the B hammer (16.94m), Scott cleared 1-40m for victory in the B high jump, and Bradley catapulted his way to success in the pole vault with 3m.

They were backed up by other important point scorers Harvey Tegg, Liam Farrell, Sion Roberts, Charlie Potts, and Michael Ozoemelam.

JEFF McQUEEN was the first of eight West Cheshire finishers at the London Marathon.

McQueen rounded the 26.2 miles in the capital for a time of 3:04:53, ahead of Andy Carter who provided a high-five to Dame Kelly Holmes after clocking 3:11:59.

Neil Webster achieved 3:15:30, ahead of Richard Batterham who was 13th in his over-65 age group with a time of 3:32:50; Sean Gannon, with
3:36:28; Ben McKean in 3:43:32; Vince Hodges, with 3:57:34; and Dave Bish, who posted 4:23:45.

IAN GLOYNE-PHILLIPS clocked a new personal best of 38:20 for 19th position at the Whitley 10k Road Racem near Warrington, ahead of clubmate Richard Hunt (162nd in 47:05).

ETHAN GREENLAND (second in 18:22) and Graham Wells (third in a new pb of 18:23) headed West Cheshire`s charge at the Delamere 5k Park Run, ahead of Mark Davies (fifth in a new pb of 18:39), Rory Willson (26th in 21:35), Adam Carlile (32nd in 21:57), and Lauren Moore (131st in a new pb of 26:04).

BOB FREEMAN posted 20:53 for 13th spot at the Ellesmere Port 5k parkrun, ahead of other West Cheshire finishers Rosemary Rogers (sixth lady in 24:58), Brian Beattie (39th in 26:13), Dave Hough (44th in 27:24).

KAY HAYES represented West Cheshire at the Fulham Palace 5k parkrun, where she posted 24:16.

OLIVIA MONTEZ-BROWN has made a superb start to life as a student in the United States.

The West Cheshire AC all-rounder was crowned NSIC (Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) indoor long jump champion (5.72m) in February, before being crowned NSIC pentathlon champion with 3641 points (8.85 hurdles, 1.59 high jump, 10.57 shot, 5.55 long jump, and 2:29 800m) in March.

Olivia qualified for the NCAA (Division Two) national
championships, with a personal best score of 3773 points (8.77, 1.58, 10.63, 5.70, 2:23), before being awarded NSIC newcomer of the year for indoor track and field.

Her outdoor season commenced with two new Augustana University, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, long jump records, the latest mark of 5.91m achieved this month, and she recently competed alongside Olympic champion and world record holder for the decathlon, Ashton Eaton, in Long
Beach, California.

WIRRAL AC are organising their Open Medal Meeting at Bebington Oval, on Sunday, May 8, (11am start). Entries close on Saturday, April 30.

And Wirral AC are also hosting the second in their Track Endurance Series Races on Wednesday June 1, with a 3k (7.45pm), followed on Wednesday July 6, by a 10k (7.45pm), and on Wednesday August 3, by a 5k (7.45pm).

ENTRIES are now being taken for the Cheshire County AA Track and Field Championships being held at Macclesfield, on Saturday and Sunday, May 14 and 15.

FIXTURES this weekend include the first round of the Under 17 and Under 20 Youth Development Track and Field League at Market Street, Bury, on Sunday (11.15am start for field events, and 11.40am start for track events), the North Wales 10 miles Road Race Championships on Saturday,
at Wrexham (2pm start), and a Trafford Open Medal Meeting on Monday (12 noon start).

WEST CHESHIRE members are being invited to take part in the annual mile races at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village Athletics Track on Tuesday after training at 8pm, to mark the anniversary of Sir Roger Bannister`s first sub-four minute mile.
