Press Report: Masters Win Northern Medals

WEST CHESHIRE Athletic Club members pocketed 11 medals at Sunday’s Northern Masters Track and Field Championships.

Alan Littler, Joy Hickman, Sharon Stoll, Andy Parker and Debra Erskine all starred for the purple and gold vested outfit at Trafford’s Longford Park Stadium.

Alan achieved 55.19 seconds for victory in the over 35 men’s 400m and rounded the 800m in a personal best time of 2:06.46 for a silver medal.

Joy won the over 60 women’s 5,000m in a time of 21:43:56 and claimed a bronze medal in the 800m after clocking 3:07.12.

Sharon powered her way to top spot in the over 55 women’s hammer with a throw of 25.88m, and hit 14.74m for a silver medal in the discus.

Andy secured a hat-trick of silver medals from the over 45 men’s 100m (12.52 seconds), 200m (24.89), and 400m (56.14).

And Debra achieved a personal best throw of 26.59m for a silver medal in the over 60 women’s hammer and a bronze medal in the discus.

LUCCA TARDIVEL and Mia Johnson celebrated club record performances at the England Athletics Under 16 and Under 18 Track and Field Championships at Bedford.

Lucca Tardivel won a gold medal in the under 17 men’s 100m and because the 200m winner was Scottish, Lucca was awarded an under 18 men’s gold medal and an under 17 men’s silver medal.

Lucca clocked a new 100m club record of 10.90 seconds in his heat and then 10.75 in his semi-final, and in the 200m he produced 21.73 in his heat for an improved club record but his semi and final were wind assisted times of 21.63 and 21.20.

Mia secured a silver medal in the under 16 women’s 200m with a time of 24.19 seconds, equalling her legal personal best and club record in her wind assisted heat.

And Mia clocked 11.81 seconds for fourth place in the 100m final.

Ella Bibby (club record of 24.42) and Alba March (personal best of 24.67) qualified for the 200m final.

Maya Jennings qualified for the under 16 girls’ 300m semi-final with the seventh fastest time, narrowly missing out on the final, and competed in the 200m where she ran her second-fastest time of the season, but just missed out on the final.

Eleanor Wheeler competed at her first-ever national championships and produced another personal best, improving from 63 seconds to 62 seconds.

Dylan Gledhill improved his under 16 men’s 300m record with a new personal best of 39.17 seconds and Jayden Walls also competed in the 300m and clocked 39.77.

Jacob Gardner posted a personal best of 22.31 seconds in his under 18 men’s 200m heat and clocked 22.82 in his semi final.

Arwen Thorne hit 42.63m for sixth spot in the under 18 girls javelin, while her sister, Violet achieved 29.84m in the under 16 girls discus, and Satine Wearden hit 38.37m in the under 18 girls hammer.

FIXTURES this weekend include the Under 14 and Under 16 Youth Dwevelopment Track and Field League, at Bebington Oval, on Saturday.
