NIALL BETTERIDGE celebrated success in the under 11 boys race at Bala in the second round of the North Wales Cross Country League.
The West Cheshire Athletic Club youngster won his race in a time of 10 minutes 31 seconds and was backed up by Toby Honeyborne-Kelly (13th in 12:28), and James Thomas (22nd in 14:05).
Evelyn Edwards (fourth in 7:48) and Ivy Bowden (ninth in 8:36) completed the under 11 girls event, and Heidi Wetherall finished seventh with a time of 13:48 in the under 13 girls race.
Rose Sheppard rounded the under 15 girls race for fifth spot in 16:59, while Morgan Edwards (eighth in 15:24), Finley Edwards (13th in 17:12), and Atharva Ganesh (14th in 17:13) combined in the under 13 boys race.
Jeff Gifford was second in his over 60 age group and 72nd overall with a time of 40:25 in the senior men’s race, ahead of Andrew Clague (fifth over 55 and 81st overall in 41:48).
Anest Muller (39th in 27:19), Ellie Robinson (48th in 27:58), Joy Hickman (62nd in 29:12), and Deb Bemand (88th in 32:34) teamed up in the senior women’s event.
LEWIS MORRIS produced an impressive sixth-placed finish with a time of 14:05 in the under 17 men’s race at the UK Cross Challenge fixture held at Sefton Park, Liverpool.
Lucas Sawyer achieved eighth spot in the under 13 boys race with a time of 10:51, while Abby Gamble (15th in 8:00), Heidi Anstey (54th in 8:44), and Arianwen Setters (88th in 9:10) combined in the under 11 girls event.
Jodi Bemand rounded the under 20 women’s race in 62nd spot with a time of 23:56, while Margaux Schmidlin (78th in 12:56) completed the under 15 girls race.
Max Molloy (84th in 8:08) and Arthur Jones (98th in 8:11) teamed up in the under 11 boys race, while Claire Harris (99th in 34:19) and Julie Douzant (111th in 35:06) rounded the senior women’s course, and Florence Hain (110th in 14:06) completed the under 13 girls race.
Paul Morrison (248th in 31:31), Luke Squirrel (250th in 31:33), Steve Fernyhough (396th in 34:05), Mark Davies (554th in 36:40), Andy Carter (824th in 43:07), and Phil Gent (836th in 43:39) negotiated the senior men’s race.
WEST CHESHIRE ATHLETIC CLUB youngsters contributed to a second-placed finish for their county in the West Midlands.

JAMIE FISHER (83rd in 34:58), teamed up for West Cheshire AC alongside Dave Shearer (135th in 36:11), and Luke Ellis (563rd in 41:40) in the Wilmslow Festive 5k Road Race.

A TOTAL of 18 West Cheshire Athletic Club youngsters will represent their county this weekend in the West Midlands.
The juniors will join forces for Cheshire on Saturday in the annual Dave Sunderland Cup Inter-Counties Schools Cross Country Competition against Cumbria, Hereford and Worcester, Leicestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Surrey, Warwickshire, and hosts, the West Midlands, at Himley Hall, Dudley.
Felicity Snowden, Saskia Keresturova, Alice Roberts-Page, and Mollie Cooke will line up for the year seven minor girls 2.7 km race scheduled to start at 1.30pm.
Jack Arnold will be in action at 1.50pm in the year seven minor boys 2.7 km event.
Nia Manson, Poppy McKenna, Amelia Snowden, Sophie Baker and Rosie Grimsditch will team up in the year eight and nine junior girls 3.2 km race at 2.10pm.
Leon Betteridge will be in action at 2.30pm in the year eight and nine junior boys 3.2 km event.
Emilia Pyper, Eleanor Wheeler, Harriet Beattie, and Sophie Mulcaster will combine in the year 10 and 11 intermediate girls 3.8 km race at 2.50pm.
And the trio of Dylan Gledhill, Louis Grimes and George Grimsditch will be in action at 3.20pm in the year 10 and 11 intermediate boys 4 km race.

FINAL preparations are being made for the popular Chester Round The Walls Race being held on Boxing Day.
Entries have now closed for the 6.4km race, organised annually by West Cheshire Athletic Club with more than 500 runners expected to line-up for the 10.30am start on the grass close to the White Horse Pub.
The runners will complete approximately 2km within the confines of the Roodee before crossing the racecourse near the main entrance. After turning left onto the footpath adjacent to the hotel car park, the race turns left again on the footpath adjacent to the railway arches and then joins the riverside path.
The route follows the riverside path under Grosvenor Bridge, past the Little Roodee Car Park and towards Castle Drive.
The runners cross Castle Drive at the University building to join the City Walls at Bridgegate for an anti-clockwise circuit before returning to the Racecourse via the steps from Nuns Road. From the bottom of the steps the runners will head through the car park in front of the main stands before turning left to cross the racecourse.
After following the main access road the runners turn left onto the grass to finish close to the White Horse pub.
Joseph Morrison and Claire Fuhihage celebrated success at last year’s race which attracted 508 finishers in foggy weather conditions.
Joseph, representing West Cheshire AC, clocked 21 minutes 5 seconds, ahead of runner-up George Morris (Aldershot Farnham and District AC) who posted 21:15, and third-placed Eliot Palmer (Vegan Runners UK) with 21:26.
Claire (Illinois State University) was first lady in a time of 24:06, ahead of Izzy Gelder (Mornington Chasers) who clocked 24:25, and third-placed Sophie Hunt (Chester Tri Club) in 26:38.
NIA MANSON represented West Cheshire AC at the Cardiff Cross Challenge fixture and clocked 12 minutes 20 seconds for 17th spot in the under 15 girls race.
THIS Sunday’s scheduled Borders Road Running League fixture at Delamere Forest has been postponed and will be rearranged in the new year.

WEST CHESHIRE ATHLETIC CLUB were represented by 13 youngsters on Sunday at the latest round of the North West Sportshall Athletics League.
Heidi Anstey, Abby Gamble, Hermione Allison, Lyra Allison, Louisa Cogan, Anna Dooley, Amelie Eboh, Isaac Thompson, Finley Edwards, Amber Cogan, Harriet Oliver, Molly Gore, and Sophie Baker combined for the purple-vested outfit.
The youngsters competed in a range of running, jumping and throwing competitions at the Crewe Lifestyle Centre against teams from Macclesfield, Crewe and Nantwich, Wirral, Halton and Frodsham, and Liverpool.
The next league fixture is scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 30, at Crewe Lifestyle Centre, and the final round will be held at Liverpool, on Sunday, January 18.
The North West Regional Sportshall Final for under 11s, under 13s, and under 15s will be held at SportCity, Manchester, on Sunday, February 8.
