Press Report: Harriet in International Call-up

HARRIET WHEELER will represent England on Sunday at Loughborough.
The West Cheshire Athletic Club member will participate in the javelin at the Ron Pickering Memorial International against teams from Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Loughborough Students.
Harriet warmed up for her international appearance at the weekend with a winning throw in the under 20 women’s javelin competition at Leigh Sports Village in the second round of the Under 17 and Under 20 Youth Development Track and Field League.
Harriet was joined in the winners circle at Leigh by club mates Arwen Thorne, Dun Xue, Niamh Le’Gall, Nancy Farmer, Kara Stoll, Nathan Owen, Seb Whiteley, Beth Manson, Sidney Shorrock, and Satine Wearden.
Arwen celebrated a hat-trick of individual victories in the under 17 women’s 80m hurdles (13.4 seconds), High Jump (1-50m), and javelin, and combined with Beth Manson, Erin Barnard and Esme Graham to post a winning time of 3:04.1 in the under 17 women’s 4x300m relay.
Dun hit a winning put of 10.22m in the under 20 men’s shot, while Niamh grabbed a double success story in the under 20 women’s 200m (24.8 seconds) and 400m (58.4).
Nancy rounded the under 20 women’s 800m in a winning time of 2:29.0, while Kara powered her way to victory in the under 20 women’s hammer with 42.74m.
Nathan blasted his way to victory in the under 17 men’s 200m (24.2), while Seb nailed a winning put of 13.02m in the under 17 men’s shot, and Beth registered a winning time of 43.5 seconds in the under 17 women’s 300m.
Sidney powered her way to success with 13.86m in the under 17 women’s shot, while Satine posted a winning throw of 41.48m in the under 17 women’s hammer.
And the quartet of Evan Miller, Dan Walker, Lewis Morris and Josh Stirling combined for victory with 3:49.9 in the under 17 men’s 4x400m relay.
Holly Bosworth won the under 20 women’s B 200m (25.5), B 400m (59.7) and B javelin, while James Rawson scored success in the under 20 men’s B discus (17.43m and B hammer (16.88m.
Evan celebrated victories in the under 17 men’s B 100m (12.3) and B javelin, while Lewis Morris rounded the under 17 men’s B 800m for victory.
Alba March grabbed glory in the under 17 women’s B 100m (12.6) and B 200m (26.6), while Esme Graham won the under 17 women’s B shot (6.52m).
Other important point-scoring members of the West Cheshire AC team included Alessio Solinas, Ellis Williams, Joseph Donnelly, Will Rawson, and Macey Jones.

The next round of the Under 17 and Under 20 Youth Development Track and Field League will be held at Ellesmere Port Sports Village on Sunday, July 6.
JESSICA LARK was in record-breaking form on Saturday at Bury in a British Milers Club Grand Prix and World Athletics Challenger Meeting.
Jessica won and took the under 20 women’s and women’s club record for the 1500m down to 4:11.36, while club mate Joseph Morrison clocked 1:48.72 to equal his 800m club record.
STEVE FERNYHOUGH won the Sandstone Trail Ultra 34 miles Race in a time of 4 hours 59 minutes.
JOY HICKMAN and Ellie Robinson produced age group club records at Saturday’s Cheshire Track and Field Grand Prix fixture held at Macclesfield.
Joy set over-60 women’s records in the 3,000m (13:02.00) and 800m (3:15.22), while Ellie Robinson sliced Β½ second off her over 50 women’s 400m time to post 2:57.52, after improving her 800m time to 2:41.4 at Blackburn in the previous week’s Northern Premier West Division fixture at Blackburn where Dun Xue (under 20) and Sidney Shorrock (under 17) threw senior weights in hammer and shot and improved their distances to 35.99m (7.26kg) and 14.73m (4kg) respectively to improve the previous marks held by George Hyde and Emily Ball who both hold the outright club records for shot.
WEST CHESHIRE AC members produced personal bests at Macclesfield on Saturday in the latest round of the Cheshire Track and Field Grand Prix.
Debra Erskine nailed a new over 60 women’s javelin best of 25.03m, while Leon Betteridge delivered new bests in the under 13 boys 200m (31.99), 800m (2:33.76), and javelin (15.19m).
Atharva Ganesh posted 33.71 in the under 13 boys 200m and 2:56.02 in the 800m, and hit 14.41m in the javelin, while Amber Cogan celebrated 31.11 in the under 13 girls 200m and 8.69m in the javelin.
Felicity Snowden achieved 32.66 in the under 13 girls 200m and 2:53.52 in the 800m, while Amelia Clarke delivered 32.57 in the under 13 girls 200m, cleared 1-20m in the high jump, and hit 10.21m in the javelin.
Aoife Roberts clocked 43.87 in the under 15 girls 300m and 2:30.92 in the 800m, while Amelia Snowden posted 43.91 in the under 15 girls 300m.
Matt Gutteridge posted 58.59 in the men’s 400m alongside Dun Xue who clocked 62.51 and also achieved a new javelin best of 30.76m.
George Grimsditch rounded the under 15 boys 800m in 2:25.60, while Rose Sheppard clocked 2:38.00 in her under 15 girls 800m, and Rosie Grimsditch clocked 2:48.98 in the under 13 girls 800m, while Saskia Keresturova posted 2:52.74 in the 800m.
Freya Whittaker cleared a new under 13 girls high jump best of 1-35m, while Amelia Owen long jumped 3.55m in the under 15 girls event, and Arwen Thorne achieved a new under 17 women’s long jump best of 4.83m.
The third round of the Cheshire Track and Field Grand Prix will be held at Warrington on Saturday, June 21.
LEWIS MORRIS was first home for West Cheshire AC at Friday night’s Mid Cheshire Spring 5km Road Race held at Kingsley.
Lewis clocked 14:56, ahead of club mates Sam Oliver (15:45), Scott Wells (16:31), Steve Fernyhough (16:46), Jack Gannon (16:56), Steve King (17:06), Neil Hershaw (18:05), Nancy Farmer (18:07), Jodi Bemand (18:57), Hayley Holland (19:53), and Debra Bemand (23:17).
FIXTURES this weekend include the second round of the Under 13 and Under 15 Youth Development Track and Field League, at Blackburn, on Sunday.
