Press Report: Good Times Had by All
THREE West Cheshire Athletic Club members achieved new club records at the weekend.
Lewis Morris and Michael Young impressed at the Pulford 10k Road Race, while Clare Mallon smashed her age group record at the Wilmslow Half Marathon.
Lewis clocked 32 minutes 22 seconds to break the club under 17 men’s 10k record, just ahead of Michael who posted a new over 35 men’s 10k age group club record of 32:23.
And Clare rounded the Wilmslow Half Marathon course in a new over-50 women’s 10k age group club record time of 1:41:45, alongside other West Cheshire finishers Phil Woodley (1:20:34) and Luke Ellis (1:34:50).
Steve Fernyhough clocked 33:56 for seventh spot in his over-40 men’s age category at the Pulford 10k Road Race, ahead of Keely Smith who posted 37:44 for second place in her over-40 women’s age group.
Chris Shaw was eighth over-50 man with a time of 37:44 at Pulford, ahead of club mates Ben Newall (12th under 21 man in 37:57); Connor Lee (38:27); Claire Harris (seventh over-35 lady in 39:51); Emma Nutt (41:01); Rebecca Rosalski (42:19); Paul Cain (seventh over-55 man in 44:16); and Stephen Ball (45:42).
MARK DAVIES (1:32:59) and Brian Cremin (1:44:59) represented West Cheshire AC at Sunday’s Liverpool Half Marathon.
JACK ARNOLD set a new course record at Allt Wen on Sunday in the latest round of the North Wales Junior Fell Run Series.
Jack won the under 13 boys race, ahead of West Cheshire club mate, Tom Booth, who finished fourth, while Sam Arnold finished eighth in the under 11 boys race, and Nia Manson was third in the under 15 girls race.
POPPY McKENNA (16th in 11:23) and Flori Hain (133rd in 13:56) completed the Year Seven Girls race at the National Year Seven Schools Cross Country Championships held at Kenilworth.
FIXTURES this weekend include the West Cheshire AC Junior Combined Events Competition at Ellesmere Port Sports Village, on Saturday (10am start), the Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde AC Winter Warm Up Open Track and Field Meeting on Saturday; and the Northern Road Relay Championships, at Redcar, on Sunday.

WEST CHESHIRE AC will host the first-ever Cheshire Grand Prix Track and Field Meeting on Saturday, April 26, at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village Athletics Track. The entry link is: https://meets.rosterathletics.com/public/competitions/details/about?id=26414
The Cheshire Grand Prix will replace the Cheshire Track and Field League and will comprise of four fixtures in total being held at EPSV, Macclesfield, and Warrington.
COUNTY Officials Secretary, Tim Palmer, has arranged a Level 1 Track Judge and a Level 1 Field Judge course to coincide with the first match of the new Cheshire Track & Field Grand Prix being held on 26th April at EPSV.

This initiative will hopefully strengthen the number of officials in the county and provide an opportunity for anyone wanting to take the first step towards becoming a qualified official.
ONLINE entries are now being accepted for the Cheshire Track and Field Championships being held at Ellesmere Port, on Saturday and Sunday, 10 and 11 May via this link:
The Championships will have full electronic timing and photo-finish for track events and EDM for field events. The Roster competition management system will be used, providing live start lists and results via the Roster App.
As usual, medals will be awarded for the full programme of track and field events for all age groups from under 13s to seniors, together with a small number of events for the Under-11 age group.
WEST CHESHIRE AC will help organise the Cheshire v Merseyside Year Seven Schools Cross Country Match at Ellesmere Port Sports Village on Wednesday, April 2.
DATES and venues for this season’s Borders Road Running League are: April 6 at Buckley Runners; May 7 at Prestatyn (Presentation Evening).
All races are on Sundays and start at 11am except for the final race which is on a Wednesday evening with a 7pm start and is a relay event.
