CHESTER WALLS RACE HELPERS URGENTLY NEEDED

LONDON MARATHON SUNDAY 23rd APRIL 2023 CLUB ENTRIES
Procedure for allocation of club places to West Cheshire AC England Athletics competition registered members aged 18 or over on race day.
The club receives a number of guaranteed entries to the London Marathon (for 2023 club entry this is 2).
Guaranteed entries are given to appropriate club members for personal use only (i.e. not transferable to anyone else) on the following basis:
Priority 1: Members who have assisted at our road race events (Spring 5, Guilden Sutton 10K, Borders League event hosted by West Cheshire AC and Round the Walls) and helping out at the Chester Half Marathon.
Within this group the priority order is as follows:
1. Members who have applied for a place through the public ballot and have been unsuccessful.
2. Members who have not applied via the ballot but would like to be considered for a club entry.
Priority 2: Members who have not helped out at club road race events. Within this group the priority order is as follows:
1. Members who have applied for a place through the public ballot and have been unsuccessful.
2. Members who have not applied via the ballot but would like to be considered for a club entry. If there are more applicants fulfilling the Priority 1 conditions than the number of places available then a draw will be carried out of all those qualifying, starting with the highest priority group and progressively moving to each successive category until all the club places have been allocated. This will be done at the West Cheshire AC Committee meeting on Tuesday night 13th December). Successful applicants will be notified and sent a unique link to the London Marathon site. The applicant will then apply for their place. Standard entry fees are payable to London Marathon by the applicant.

COACHING ASSISTANT COURSE
There is a Coaching Assistant Course being held at Wigan on Sunday 8th January 2023.
Details about the course are in the link below and booking is now available via Athletics Hub.
This is a βpilotβ for one of the options for a new course delivery, in this case 4 on-line modules and then a day of face to face practical.
There is no confirmed date for the roll out of more of these courses, so it is being recommended for volunteers to book onto the course who urgently need to get qualified.
EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENTS
Parents wanting to purchase club hoodies (Β£15) as Christmas presents are reminded that Kathryn Rawson will being selling club hoodies at the EPSV Track Office AFTER Saturday Morning training sessions.
Payment can be made by cash or by cheque (made payable to West Cheshire AC).
CLUB CHRISTMAS TRACK HANDICAP
Saturday 17th December – West Cheshire AC Christmas Track Handicap, at Ellesmere Port Sports Village, 10am start, (800m for Juniors, and 3,000 metres for Seniors. Entry is a wrapped present). The event will be followed by drinks and food in the EPSV Trackside Room. Please email Dennis ASAP if you want to take part or want to help out: [email protected]

Saturday – Track & Field Training Sessions at EPSV Track, supervised by Dave McKay, Dennis Wall, and Jane Palmer (10am-12 noon).
Saturday – Hill Training Session at Wepre Park, Connah’s Quay, supervised by sprinting coach, Jon Moss (10am-12 noon).
Sunday – Manchester Indoor Open Track & Field Meeting, at SportCIty (10.30am start).

Congratulations to Nathan Brassington who helped England Schools win team gold medals in the pentathlon at the Home Countries Indoor International Fixture in Glasgow on Saturday.
To everyone who ran in the North Wales Cross Country League at Whitford and those who competed at the UK Cross Challenge at Sefton Park, Liverpool.
And congratulations to all other members who have competed elsewhere for the club recently.
