Press Report: Two New Events from Club in March

WEST CHESHIRE Athletic Club will organise two open track and field meetings in March.

The Ellesmere Port Sports Village-based outfit is providing everyone with an opportunity to run, jump and throw, before the track and field season gets into its stride by promoting the Dan Gilroy Memorial Open Track and Field Meetings in memory of the club’s former president, coach and official.

The Club is keen to promote an open meeting on Sunday, March 20, which will feature sprint hurdles, sprints, as well as long jump and high jump competitions for under 11s through to veterans.

And another open meeting on Saturday, March 26, will feature middle distance races as well as shot put, discus, hammer and javelin, again for all age groups.

“West Cheshire AC is really looking forward to hosting two open track and field meetings for the first time in memory of Dan Gilroy,” club official, Dennis Wall said.

“Dan sadly passed away last year after playing a key role at the Club as secretary, coach, official and president, and the two open track and field meetings are a fitting way to remember all the work he did for us.

“The club is hoping to encourage as many people as possible to take part in the two fixtures as we prepare for a busy year ahead.”
