NORTHERN TRACK & FIELD LEAGUE MATCH

The Club will be represented at the Northern League match at Witton Park, Blackburn, BB2 2TP, on Saturday, 19th June. The first field events start at 11.30am, and the first track event starts at 1pm.

CHESHIRE TRACK & FIELD LEAGUE MATCH

The Club will be represented at the Cheshire League match which is only for athletes in the Under 15 and Under 17 age groups, at Macclesfield Leisure Centre, Priory Lane, Macclesfield, SK10 4AF, on Sunday, 20th June. The first event takes place at 1pm.

REMINDER ABOUT HEALTH CHECKS

Having watched Christian Eriksen collapse on Saturday night during the European Football Championships, it’s a reminder that we should all be having regular screenings and health checks given the intensity and levels we train at.
The attached link is for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) they are an organisation that screen 14-35 year olds, they use the screenings to check if there are any anomalies in the subjects cardiac rhythm.You can also consult your GP should you have any concerns. “Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).” The link is:

YOUR CLUB COMMITTEE

The Club is managed by a committee who are re-elected every 12 months and meet on the second Tuesday of every month to discuss a range of issues concerning the Club.

The Club Committee is comprised of: Mike Lamb (President), Jon Clarke (Chairman), Dennis Wall (Vice-Chairman, and Track and Field Officer), Julian Tegg (Secretary), Darren Shillington (Treasurer), Jane Pughe (Membership Secretary), Eddie Gore (Facilities Officer), Dave Alexander (Cross Country Secretary), John Parlevliet (Road Running Secretary), and Mark Duffey (Marketing Officer).

LONDON MARATHON PLACE

West Cheshire AC London Marathon club place for Sunday 3rd October 2021.

Anyone over 18 who has been a fully paid up member continually since at least 1st April 2019 is invited to enter a ballot for this club place. The entry will be guaranteed but the full fees will be paid by the entrant themselves.

Please email applications to: westcheshireroadraces@gmx.co.uk and ensure you add ‘London Marathon 2021’ in the subject line so we can easily sort them.

Applications should be received by WEDNESDAY 16Th JUNE. A random draw will then be done. The successful member will be notified and registered on the London Marathon system. London Marathon will send a customised link directly to the WCAC member giving personal access to the online entry system. The place cannot be handed on to a family member or friend.

CLUB WELFARE TEAM VOLUNTEERS URGENTLY NEEDED

Club Welfare Team Volunteers are needed to ensure that we provide a safe, supportive set-up in which any welfare or safeguarding issues can be reported and dealt with fairly, efficiently, and in line with England Athletics guidelines. HELPERS WANTED FOR COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS

West Cheshire AC is scheduled to host the Cheshire Track and Field Championships at Ellesmere Port Sports Village on Saturday and Sunday, August 21 and 22.

But County Officials secretary, Alan Morris, is currently struggling to find enough timekeepers and field judges, and we will need to allocate people to other roles such as Technical Manager, Seeding, Announcer, and Presentations, to ensure the event runs smoothly.

UPDATED PROVISIONAL DATES FOR YOUR DIARY…

Subject to Covid-19 rules, West Cheshire AC’s latest revised league season looks like this:

Under 13/Under 15 Youth Development League Merseyside Division: Saturday, July 17, (at Bebington Oval), and Saturday, September 4 (at Wavertree, Liverpool).

Under 17/Under 20 Youth Development League Merseyside Division: Sunday, June 27, (at Ellesmere Port Sports Village), Sunday, July 25 (at Bebington Oval), and Sunday, September 5, (at Wavertree, Liverpool).

West Cheshire AC’s North Premier West League squad will open their season on Saturday, June 19, at Blackburn, before hosting at Ellesmere Port Sports Village on Sunday, July 4, and concluding the campaign at Trafford, on Sunday, August 1.

West Cheshire AC’s Cheshire League second and third rounds are at Macclesfield on Sunday, June 20 and Saturday, July 24; and West Cheshire AC will host the final round at Ellesmere Port Sports Village on Sunday, August 29.

NORTHERN ATHLETICS 5k CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2021 Northern Athletics 5K Road Race Championships will return to the Sunderland 5K – hosted by Sunderland Harriers. The event will be on the evening of Thursday, 22nd July 2021, (subject to govt. regulations). Entry details will be posted on the Sunderland Harriers website when available.

ENGLAND ATHLETICS RESPONSE TO GOVERNMENT’S ROADMAP

England Athletics have outlined in an ‘athletics and running roadmap’ infographic what everything means at each stage. More detailed guidance will be provided they have received further information from Sport England and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. Please note, all these dates are subject to the UK Government’s four-step roadmap to ease restrictions across England and the conditions which must be met before the country is able to move from one step to the next. HELP AND SUPPORT
Anyone requiring help and support while self isolating can contact the local council hotline number of 0300 123 7031.
This is a dedicated hotline number for those self isolating and who don’t have anyone to help. A call to this number will provide help organising food or medicine deliveries, or some sort of social contact. The number for the most in need is 0300 123 7031. It is open Monday to Sunday (8am-7pm).
