Press Report: Records All Round

EMMA HOLMES, Carys Roberts, Jodi Bemand and Imogen Pughe combined to equal the under 17 women’s 4x300m West Cheshire Athletic Club record on Sunday.

The quartet clocked two minutes 59.7 seconds during the opening round of the Under 17 and Under 20 Youth Development Track and Field League hosted by their club at Ellesmere Port Sports Village.

Pughe also posted 41.6 seconds for victory in her 300m, while Roberts clocked winning times of 26.8 seconds (200m) and 4:50.0 (1500m), alongside under 17 team mate Megan White.

Callum Stow-Povall, Nic Nowell, Nathan Broomfield, and Henry Robinson teamed up for West Cheshire AC’s under 17 men, while Abigail Cartwright, Lily Moorhouse, Lucia Pyne, and Francesca Pughe combined for the under 20 women.

Adam Howe spun the under 20 men’s discus to a winning mark of 30.58m and was backed up by team mates Jacob Clark, Matthew Webb, and Fraser Campbell.

KATIE CLARKE ran her last race for her US College,ย SCAD, Atlanta, Georgia, and finished fourth in theย 10,000m final of the NAIA Conference Championships in a time ofย 36 minutes 23.14 seconds which sets a new West Cheshire Club best performance, beating her own previous time of 36:50.85 seconds set on April 9.ย 

JOSEPH MORRISON clocked a new under 23 men’s 800m personal best of 1:50.38, and club record, at the British Milers Club Grand Prix Meeting held at Sport City, Manchester, on Saturday.

MACEY BRETT of West Cheshire AC clocked new under 15 girls personal bests in the 75m hurdles (12.79 seconds) and 100m (14.02) at Monday’s Trafford Open Meeting.

She was joined at the fixture by club mates and sisters Ruby and Aimee Phillips who rounded the under 13 girls 800m in new personal bests of 2:25.91 and 2:27.96 respectively.

Lewis Parsons clocked 11.98 seconds in his under 15 boys 100m, and 24.11 in his 200m, alongside club mate Alex Rutherford who posted new personal bests of 12.19 (100m) and 25.08 (200m), Theo Shepherd who posted a new under 13 boys 150m personal best of 19.87, and 10.19 in his 75m, Eleanor Wheeler (13.15 for under 13 girls 75m), Satine Wearden (under 13 girls 1500m pb of 5:38.75 and 150m pb of 27.04), Sophie Haslam (new pb of 46.57 in under 15 girls 300m), Luke Parker (under 15 boys 800m in 2:21.79), Jessica Lark (under 15 girls 800m in 2:37.87), Ruby Carlile (under 15 girls high jump of 1-30m and 800m in 2:50.91), Kara Stoll (under 15 girls hammer throw of 29.27m and discus of 15.88m), and Harriet Wheeler (under 15 girls hammer of 23.84m, javelin throw of 36.25m, and shot put of 8.44m).

THREE West Cheshire AC members celebrated personal bests at last week’s Trafford AC Sprints Open Meeting.

Callum Stow-Povall clocked 12.19 seconds and 25.23 seconds for the Under 17 men’s 100m and 200m, while Imogen Pughe posted 59.61 seconds for a new U17 women’s 400m Club record, and Beth McMahon posted 59.93 for an U23 women’s 400m personal best.

FIXTURES this weekend include the Under 13 and Under 15 Youth Development Track and Field League Merseyside Division match at Ellesmere Port Sports Village, on Saturday (12 noon start).
