COUNTY CROSS-COUNTRY UPDATE
Two venues are in the frame to host the 2021 Cheshire Cross Country Championships. It may not be possible to hold the County championship in January 2021, but it has been agreed by Cheshire AA that plans should be developed.
Delamere Forest, with Vale Royal AC as hosts, is one possibility, while Betley Farm, Staffordshire, a private site close to the Cheshire border that has been used for the Staffordshire Championship and North Staffs XC league, is another possibility.
Forest Park, Birchwood, Warrington, hosted by Spectrum Striders, is another proven site with good support from the club. However, isolating the event from the public for COVID would be a problem, so the option has been discounted.
ENGLAND ATHLETICS GUIDANCE
Following the new restrictions outlined on 22nd September by UK government, guidance for OUTDOOR club and group activity as well as all types of OUTDOOR competitions for athletics and running is not affected. However, guidance for INDOOR activity has been updated. Indoor activity for Under 18βs can take place with larger numbers in a Covid-secure environment. Indoor training for athletes over the age of 18 is restricted to groups of 6 (1 coach to 5 athletes).
Please see below for the England Athletics guidance document for a return to restricted track and field competition in a Covid-19 secure setting (with new guidance for Cross Country added 18 September and links to Trail Running guidance added 1 October). This is written knowing that any step back to competition needs to be taken carefully and in full recognition of, and adherence to, government guidance that is in place at the time on Covid-19: EA will update the guidance if and when necessary – details here.

UPDATED ONLINE ATHLETICS WEBINARS
In these unprecedented times, I wanted to draw the clubβs attention to some of the great resources available online. England Athletics is expanding its campaign to support Athletics and Running for everyone @home, with a focus on βRunning @homeβ support and advice. The homepage can be accessed here.
There are many webinars, interviews and tips from top coaches and athletes on how to stay conditioned and focused.
In addition, there are some fantastic videos for 4-11 year olds on the Funetics webpage put together in conjunction with England Athletics. The videos demonstrate parents and children (aged 4-11) taking part in FUN activities based on fundamental core movement skills: running, jumping and throwing. Funetics is a programme that has been designed to reflect the requirements of the National Curriculum Key Stage 1 and 2. At this time when our children are currently schooling at home, we hope that these video activities will support the need for education to continue at home. You can access the videos here.
The link to other updated webinars can be found here, here and here.
