Press Report: Wests Worthy in Woods

RUBY PHILLIPS, Jessica Lark, Carys Roberts and Jamie Richardson all achieved podium places at Kenworthy Woods.

The West Cheshire Athletic Club quartet impressed at the second round of the Manchester Area District Cross Country League.

Phillips achieved second spot in the under 11 girls race, while Lark (under 13 girls), Roberts (under 15 girls) and Richardson (under 15 boys) were third in their age group races. Lark was backed up in her race by club matesΒ Sophie Haslam (11th), Aimee Phillips (14th), Cerys Rowlands (19th), and Ruby Carlile (21st) to earn third team position.

Richardson received support from Sammy Hollins (12th), Henry Robinson (25th), Charlie McMullan (29th) and Dan Willetts (38th) to earn third team spot.

And Roberts was backed up by Sophie Grainger (10th), Jodi Bemand (32nd), and Henrietta Duffey (57th) to secure fifth team position.

Reece Munro was 53rd in the under 13 boys race, while Anest Muller (99th), Clare Mallon (117th), Angela Tegg (168th) and Alex Duffey (264th) combined for the women’s team.

And Andrew Clague (182nd), Mark Davies (224th), and Tony Woodall (291st) teamed up in the senior men’s event.

The next round of the Manchester Area Cross Country League takes place on Sunday, December 8, at Arrowe Park, Birkenhead.

WEST CHESHIRE AC celebrated a double success story at the second round of the North West Sportshall League hosted by the club at Ellesmere Port Sports Village.

Abigail Meyer, Ava Redmond, Beth Manson, Daisy Ross Maddock, Edith Storey, Eleanor Wheeler, Emma Bradley, Esme Graham, Faith Gambles Barlow, Grace Andrews, Grace Fairweather, Jessica Owen, Kadie Gledhill, Mae Grant, Molly Fields, Ursula Archer and Isla Entwistle earned top spot for the club’s under 11 girls team.

Carys Manson, Daisy Johnson, Emily Owen, Flora Plass, Harriet Wheeler, Holly Bosworth, Isabella Aura, Kara Stoll, Lara Fields, Lottie Blake, Macy Brett, Madhuvanti Guruprasad, Rose Duggan, Sophie Haslam, Teresa Arvidsson, Olivia Stockton, and Dakota Fleming achieved top spot in the under 13 girls team event. West Cheshire AC’s under 11 boys and 13 boys both finished second in their team competitions, while Ethan Gilgeours and Harley Shakespeare-Wetton represented the club in the under 15 boys all-rounder event.

WEST CHESHIRE AC’s women scored success at Deeside Stadium in Sunday’s Borders Road Running League team event. Claire Harris (10th in 30:11), Debra Bemand (31st in 32:00), and Rachael Patterson (35th in 32:16) combined for top spot in Division Two at the 4.25 miles course, backed up by Lisa Davies (35:58), Ellen McMahon (36:16), and Karen Waugh (47:38).

Joseph Morrison clocked 23 minutes for top spot in the under 20 men’s age group and finished sixth overall, supported by West Cheshire AC team mates Neil Finegan (25:23), Sion Roberts (25:31), Michael Young (25:34), Paul Morrison (25:36), Steve Fernyhough (25:46), Graham Wells (26:20), Freddy Newberry (26:25), Neil Hershaw (26:33), and Isaac Tait (26:54).

Other West Cheshire AC finishers included Andy Carter (26:59), John Parlevliet (27:07), Fraser Campbell (27:08), Tom Cable (27:09), Mark Davies (27:48), Steve King (27:57), Wullie McGarrell (28:09), Andrew Clague (28:12), Danny Paddock (28:33), Tony Woodall (29:17), Neil Field (31:32), Brian Wright (33:51), Tony Kennedy (34:47), Phil Howe (37:31), and Dave Tiernan (39:20).
