THIS WEEKEND
HIGH JUMP TRAINING: All members in the Under 13s age group and above are invited to a high jump training session supervised by Jane Palmer, atย Deeside Indoor Athletics Centre, Kelsterton Road, Connahs Quay, CH5 4BR, on Friday, 8th November (6.30pm start). The cost to use the facility is ยฃ4 per athlete.
SPORTSHALL TRAINING: An indoor sportshall athletics training session, will take place on Saturday, 9th November (10am-12 noon), at Ellesmere Port Sports Village Sportshall. Everyone needs to register first at the Track Office.
CROSS COUNTRY FIXTURE: The Manchester Area Cross Country League second round takes place on Saturday, 9th November, at Manchester University Playing Fields/Kenworthy Woods, Willenhall Road, Wythenshawe, Manchester, M23 0BD. (12 noon start). Club members can only run if they have been pre-entered.
The timetable is: 12 noon: Under 11 Girls and Under 11 Boys; 12.15pm: Under 13 Girls and Under 13 Boys; 12.30pm: Under 15 Girls and Under 15 Boys; 12.50pm: Under 17 Ladies and Under 17 Men; 1.30pm: Senior, Under 20 and Veteran Women; 2.30pm: Senior, Under 20 and Veteran Men.
ROAD RACE FIXTURE: The Borders Road Running League second round takes place at the Deeside College Stadium Track, Kelsterton Road, Connah’s Quay, CH5 4BR, on Sunday, 9th November (9.30am start). Further details can be found here: http://www.bordersleague.org.uk/fixtures/
SPORTSHALL FIXTURE: The Club is hosting the second round of the North West Sportshall Athletics League, at Ellesmere Port Sports Village Sportshall, on Sunday, 9th November (12.30pm start).
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
The Ellesmere Port Sports Village Athletics Track will be closed from Monday 11th November to remove moss and clean the track. The work will take 5 days so Track Training Sessions on Tuesday 12th November and Thursday 14th November will be cancelled.ย But the Club has use of the whole Ellesmere Port Sports Village Sports Hall on Tuesday 12th November between 7-8pm and members wanting to train indoors are being requested to register in the corridor outside the sportshall at 6:45pm.

CLIPS NEEDED FOR PROMOTIONAL CLUB VIDEO
Any members possessing video clips of them in action in road races, cross country races, sportshall competitions, or track and field events are being requested to forward them to Dennis Wall by email ASAP at: [email protected]
The video clips will be considered for a promotional club video being planned to be shown at the Annual Club Awards Evening on Saturday 1st February.

BE SEEN AND BE SAFE
All Club members training at night on routes that involve crossing roads and where there is traffic are reminded to wear bright and reflective clothing. Please be safe.
REPLACEMENT SPIKES
Any member requiring replacement spikes for this Saturdayโs North Staffs Cross Country League fixture at Stafford Common should email Tim Durrant at: [email protected]
Please state size needed and quantity if packs are required and he will pass them to you on Saturday.
9mm are ยฃ1.60 per pack; 12mm are ยฃ1.70 per pack; and 15mm are ยฃ1.70 per pack.
PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
All parents of youngsters attending track training sessions are reminded to collect their sons and daughters from the track โ not from the car park. The Club wants to ensure everyone stays safe and that every youngster safely leaves every track training session.
All youngsters attending track training sessions should bring along warm clothing, preferably waterproofs, hats, gloves, as well as a bottle of water.
LIVERPOOL CROSS CHALLENGE ENTRIES NOW OPEN
Entries close on Friday 15th November for the UK Cross Country Challenge at Sefton Park, Liverpool, taking place on 23rd November. The link for entries is here.
LONDON MARATHON CLUB BALLOT
All first claim club members aged 18+ are being invited to enter our ballot for a place in next yearโs London Marathon. Please direct requests for entries to Richard Batterham via: [email protected]
MASTERS CROSS COUNTRY OPEN RACES
Aintree, Liverpool, will be the venue for menโs 8k and womenโs 6k open cross country races on Saturday 16th November. Entries will be accepted on the day between 12 noon and 1.15pm, before the race start at 2.15pm.
COUNTY CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Although online entries are open for the Cheshire Cross Country Championships at Winsford on Saturday, 4th January 2020, there is no need for West Cheshire AC members to enter (and pay) individually, as the club has confirmed that it will cover all entries to those who commit to run. This will be done en-bloc in December by Club Cross Country Secetary, Dave Alexander. An email will be sent to club members in due course.

CHESTER WALLS RACE MUG DESIGNERS NEEDED
As we approach the end of the year the clubโs Road Race Organising committee is looking for design ideas for the Round the Walls race mug.
Ideas for the mug design should be sent to John Parlevliet before October 11. Ideas such as a suggestion or description, a sketch, a photo, or any other medium are welcome, but the intent for this year is to continue with the same type of mug. Of relevance to anyone thinking to provide a full design, the artwork should include the club logo and the Essar logo, but otherwise you can treat it as a blank canvas.

INDOOR CIRCUIT TRAINING
Dave McKay and Jenny Manning will be supervising winter circuit training for club members on Wednesdays in the old Stanney High School Sportshall (Annexe) from 7pm.
BECOME ONE OF OUR CLUB COACHES
Any parents of West Cheshire AC members wanting to become qualified coaches will be fully supported by the Club who will pay for coaching courses.
The next Coaching Assistant Courses are being held at SportCity, Manchester, on 26th and 27th October.
And there are Fitness in Running and Walking Courses at GMP Training Centre, Hough End, Manchester, on Saturday and Sunday, 2nd and 3rd November.

ENGLAND ATHLETICS ROAD RUNNING WORKSHOPS
England Athletics are organising two Fitness in Running and Walking courses for run leaders, coaches and runners. Both are at GMP Training Centre, Hough End, Bolton Arena, between 7pm and 9pm, at a cost of ยฃ10 for each course. Details are as follows:

REGIONAL COACH AND ATHLETE TRAINING DAYS
England Athletics is running a series of Regional Coach & Athlete Training Days across the country between September 2019 and March 2020. Delivered by elite-level coaches, these practical event-specific sessions are tailored to either Speed, Endurance, Jumps or Throws and are perfect for club-based athletes and coaches looking to develop in areas including training, preparation and technique.

REGIONAL ENDURANCE WORKSHOP
West Cheshire AC has agreed to host England Athletics Regional Endurance Coaching Workshops this Winter at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village Athletics Track.
The target audience will be Coaches working with athletes who are County standard or higher, and athletes aged 11-18. The duration will be up to three hours to include Q&A/discussion.
An interval training session will be held on Thursday, 5th December, and a threshold training session will take place on Thursday, 5th March.

WHY NOT BECOME AN OFFICIAL?
West Cheshire AC is keen to help any parents of members wanting to become qualified officials. The Club will pay for parents of members wanting to attend an officials course.
