HELP NEEDED

Sportshall Athletics Training is cancelled this Saturday because the Club is organising the second round of the Essar West Cheshire AC Schools Cross Country Race Series at Ellesmere Port Sports Village.

Help is needed from 8am to set out the course, from 9.15am to register the runners; from 10am when the first race starts; and after the event to tidy away.

ATHLETICS TRACK IS OPEN

The Ellesmere Port Sports Village Athletics Track will remain open until further notice after scheduled delamination work on the athletics track was postponed.

Further news updates will appear on the Club Website, Facebook Page, Twitter Account, and via a Niftyentries email to your inbox.

CROSS COUNTRY INVITATION

West Cheshire AC will be represented at this Saturday’s second round of the North Wales Cross Country League at Fox Hills, Via Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay, LL29 7SP. The first race is scheduled to start at 2pm.

LONDON MARATHON CLUB BALLOT

All first claim club members aged 18+ are being invited to enter our ballot for a place in next year’s London Marathon.  Please direct requests for entries to Richard Batterham via: [email protected] .

COUNTY CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Although online entries are open for the Cheshire Cross Country Championships at Winsford on Saturday, 4th January 2020, there is no need for West Cheshire AC members to enter (and pay) individually, as the club has confirmed that it will cover all entries to those who commit to run. This will be done en-bloc in December by Club Cross Country Secretary, Dave Alexander. An email will be sent to club members in due course.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

Please make a note of the following two dates in your diary:

Friday, 29th November – Club EGM and AGM, at Ellesmere Port Athletics Trackside Community Room, (7.30pm start).

Saturday, 1st February – Club Awards Evening, at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Chester.

AND…please remember to pick up a copy of the Club Winter Fixtures Card from the EPSV Athletics Track Office.

CHESTER WALLS RACE MUG DESIGNERS NEEDED

As we approach the end of the year the club’s Road Race Organising committee is looking for design ideas for the Round the Walls race mug.

Ideas for the mug design should be sent to John Parlevliet before October 11. Ideas such as a suggestion or description, a sketch, a photo, or any other medium are welcome, but the intent for this year is to continue with the same type of mug. Of relevance to anyone thinking to provide a full design, the artwork should include the club logo and the Essar logo, but otherwise you can treat it as a blank canvas.

John Parlevliet can be contacted by email at: [email protected]

PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

All parents of youngsters attending track training sessions are reminded to collect their sons and daughters from the track – not from the car park. The Club wants to ensure everyone stays safe and that every youngster safely leaves every track training session.

All youngsters attending track training sessions should bring along warm clothing, preferably waterproofs, hats, gloves, as well as a bottle of water.

INDOOR CIRCUIT TRAINING

Dave McKay and Jenny Manning will be supervising winter circuit training for club members on Wednesdays in the old Stanney High School Sportshall (Annexe) from 7pm.

BECOME ONE OF OUR CLUB COACHES

Any parents of West Cheshire AC members wanting to become qualified coaches will be fully supported by the Club who will pay for coaching courses.

The next Coaching Assistant Courses are being held at SportCity, Manchester, on 26th and 27th October.

And there are Fitness in Running and Walking Courses at GMP Training Centre, Hough End, Manchester, on Saturday and Sunday, 2nd and 3rd November.

Please email Dennis if you are interested at [email protected]
