Press Report: Last Chance to Enter 10k

ENTRIES are still being accepted for this weekendโ€™s Essar Guilden Sutton 10k Road Race.

The popular fixture being organised by West Cheshire Athletic Club will come under starter’s orders on Sunday at 11am and further details can be found at https://wcac.niftyentries.com/guildensutton10k

The course consists of two loops in and around the village on the outskirts of Chester, with a drinks station at 6.8km.

The main race is supplemented by a 1.5 miles fun run around the village which starts at 12.15pm  and entries will be accepted on the day inside Guilden Sutton Village Hall.

A QUARTET of West Cheshire AC teams have bagged medal performances at the Cheshire and North West Road Relay Championships.

Lucia Pyne (11 minutes 25 seconds), Georgia Broomfield (11:06), and Abigail Cartwright (13:20) secured the Cheshire under 17 women’s title and 12th spot in the North West event at Edge Hill College, Ormskirk, after each had covered 2.8km legs.

Ruby Phillips (7:43), Holly Coates (8:29), and Grace Henderson (9:07) celebrated victory in the 1.5km Cheshire under 11 girls Championships and fifth place in the North West Competition.

Jessica Lark (11:13), Cerys Rowlands (12:02), and Aimee Phillips (12:18) teamed up for bronze medals in the 2.8km Cheshire under 13 girls event and ninth spot in the North West Championships.

Nathan Broomfield (11:07), Sammy Hollins (10:10), and Henry Robinson (10:54) delivered bronze medals from the 2.8km Cheshire under 15 boys event and were 14th in the North West Championships.

Imogen Pughe (10:59), Sophie Grainger (11:08), and Carys Roberts (10:57) were fourth in the 2.8km Cheshire under 15 girls event and ninth in the North West Competition, while Martha Willetts (12:08), Jodi Bemand (11:58), Sarah Kefford (12:17) and Henrietta Duffey (12:52) also completed the distance.

Fraser Campbell (19:23), Matthew Douglass (18:41), and Isaac Tait (18:22) were fourth team in the 5km Cheshire under 17 men’s event and 17th in the North West Competition.

Kerry Riley (20:43), Ellie Robinson (21:59), and Debra Bemand (23:19) combined for fifth spot in the 5km Cheshire senior women’s event and 22nd in the North West Championships, while Beth McMahon (24:37), Ellen McMahon (23:51), and Alex Duffey (26:25) also completed the distance.

Sion Roberts (16:54), Dave Dentith (18:14), Jac Goodall (18:11), and Paul Morrison (18:52) grabbed fifth position in the 5km Cheshire senior men’s event and 27th spot in the North West Competition, alongside Andrew Clague (18:54), Rory Willson (19:57), Neil Hershaw (18:44), Curtis Rodway (18:52) who were ninth in the Cheshire event.

Luke Parker, (10:22), and Reece Munro (10:29) represented West Cheshire AC in the 2.8km under 13 boys competition.

TOM BOOTH, Alex Staniforth and Rosemary Rogers of West Cheshire AC have all achieved individual victories.

Booth won the Lap of Lake Windermere 45 miles Race in a time of eight hours 21 minutes, while Staniforth won the Delamere Montane Trail 10km, and Rogers celebrated success in her over-65 age group at the Wirral 10k Road Race with a time of 53:51.

RACHAEL PATTERSON completed the Wirral Half Marathon – her first ever 13.1 miles race – in a time of one hour 46 minutes for 23rd spot in the female race.

Rachael was joined at the event by West Cheshire AC’s Michael Young who posted 1:21:17 for fifth position, Andrew Cooper (20th in 1:25:45), Mark Gallagher (1:41:06), and Julian Tegg (1:42).

TONY WOODALL of West Cheshire AC posted 1:25 at the Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon, ahead of ANDY CARTER (1:31:15), Matt Stanley (1:45:21), Ian Ackroyd (1:46:56), Cathryn Whalley (1:49:33), and Karen Waugh (2:29:22).

ELLESMERE PORT SPORTS VILLAGE will be the setting for this winter’s Essar West Cheshire AC Schools Cross Country Race Series being held on Saturdays, September 21, October 19, November 30,  and February 8, (all 10am start).

FIXTURES this weekend include the North of England Road Relay Championships at Sport City, Manchester, on Sunday.
