WCAC win at the Oval

WEST CHESHIRE Athletic Club`s youngsters are celebrating a promotion campaign.

The Ellesmere Port Sports Village-based squad won the final round of the U13/U15 Youth Development Track and Field League at Bebington Oval to secure second spot overall in the Northern Premier Two Division.

Many new personal bests were achieved by the purple-vested team as they completed the league season in stylish fashion.

Lauren Jones catapulted herself to success in the under 15 girls pole vault with a new personal best clearance of 1.90m, having only started to vault last winter.

Ella Dimbylow (13.6 seconds) and Jodie Bemond (12.9) both clocked new personal bests for a double success story in the under 13 girls 70m hurdles, while Stephanie Jones (4.28m) won the under 13 girls long jump with a new personal best, and Issy Whittlestone grabbed glory in the B high jump with 1.20m.

Abigail Pawlett (12.0 seconds) and Emily Misantoni (12.3) teamed up for a double success story in the under 15 girls 75m hurdles, while Tamsin O`Keefe won the B long jump with 4.58m.

Michael Maxwell (1-35m) and Dylan Bugg (1.20m) combined for maximum points from the under 13 boys high jump, and Will Scott (31.02m) and Adam Howe (24.65m) teamed up for success in the under 15 boys discus.

Ewan Bradley cleared 2.80m for victory in the under 15 boys pole vault, while Isaac Tait (4:54.7) and Ethan Butler (5:08.1) both registered new under 13 boys 1500m personal bests for success, and Ivor Smith won the under 13 boys B shot put with 6.17m.

Ambre Richards, Stephanie Jones, Lara Battersby and Ella Dimbylow teamed up for a winning time of 56.2 seconds in the under 13 girls 4x100m relay.

Anna Crayston, Tamsin O’Keefe, Abigail Pawlett and Emily Misantoni combined to win the under 15 girls 4x300m relay in a new personal best time of 3:00.2.

Michael Ozoemelam posted new under 15 boys 100m (12.1) and 200m (25.5) personal bests alongside Harvey Culverhouse and Dan Pagan who clocked a new 200m best of 27.9.

Matthew Webb rounded the under 15 boys 300m in a new best of 42.4 alongside Sonny Dean (43.1) who then clocked 2:16.3 in the 800m alongside Harvey Tegg, who posted a new best of 2:29.9.

Matthew Douglas, Charlie Potts, Nathan Partington, Jacob Simmonds and Daniel Pond provided valuable point-scoring back-up in the under 15 boys events.

Ethan Stanworth clocked new under 13 boys 100m (13.2) and 200m (27.1) personal best times alongside Uzezi Onomerike and Isaac Tait in the short sprints, while Dylan Bugg and Henry Robinson (new 800m best of 2:43.3), Gabriel Ford, Alex Head, and Charlie Hyde, who hit a new under 13 boys personal best of 26.56m, added valuable support.

Emily Misantoni (44.6) and Lily O’Gorman (46.3) clocked new under 15 girls 300m personal best times alongside Anna Crayston (2:25.8) and Tamsin O’Keefe (2:27.4) with new 800m best times.

Molly Jones posted a new under 15 girls 1500m best time of 5:45.3 alongside sisters Laura and Chloe Mount, and Jessica Hall.

Ambre Richards clocked a new under 13 girls 75m best of 11.0 seconds, while Ella Dimbylow (21.3) and Lara Battersby (21.8) posted new 150m best times, alongside Imogen Pughe (new 1200m best of 4:13.5) and Lucia Pyne (4:15.8).

MATCH RESULT: 1 West Cheshire 499.5 points; 2 Leeds City 488.5; 3 Wirral 474.5; 4 Harrogate 428; 5 Kingston Upon Hull 423.5; 6 Rotherham 221.

OVERALL STANDINGS (after four rounds): 1 Leeds City 22 league points (2037 event points); 2 West Cheshire 1980.5 (18); 3 Wirral 1956 (18); 4 Harrogate 1818 (12); 5 Kingston Upon Hull 1814 (10); 6 Rotherham 1163.5 (4).

WEST CHESHIRE duo Isobel Griffin Morris and George Hyde represented England at Ashford, Kent, in the Home Countries Schools International Match.

Griffin Morris secured second spot in the discus, and Hyde finished fourth in the shot put.

WEST CHESHIRE AC member and Chester University student Sophie Percival has been selected to represent England in the womens javelin at an Under 20 Track and Field International at Cardiff on Wednesday this week.

WEST CHESHIRE AC will host the second round of the Borders Road Running League on Sunday, November 6.

FIXTURES this weekend include West Cheshire`s final round of the U17/U20 Youth Development Track and Field League at Ellesmere Port Sports Village on Sunday (11.15am start for field events, and 11.40am start for track events).
