Medal Haul from County T&F Champs.

Those West Cheshire athletes who made the journey to Longford Park, Trafford for the first Cheshire and Greater Manchester County Championships did the Club proud returning with 22 gold, 24 silver and 14 bronze medals.High jumper Alex Kirk won the U15 boys’ event with 1.53m with Alan Littler clearing 1.65 to win in the Senior Men age group. Michael Bailiff equalled the gold medal height of 1.75m in the U17 men high jump, but had to settle for silver medal on count back. Elijah Montez-Brown showed a clean pair of heels to take U13 boys’ gold with a height of 1.25m. Not to be outdone was Victoria Anderson who was Senior Women champion clearing 1.63m. Sophie Barlow was U13 girls’silver medal winner with 1.20m. Also taking to the heights were James McMahon and Andrew Gore in the U15 boys’ and Senior Men Pole Vault to won gold and silver respectively with leaps of 2.30m and 3.20m.
Horizontal jumpers were represented in the triple jump by gold medals from Sam Rimmer (junior man), Emily Clarke (junior lady) and Olivia Montez-Brown (U17 lady – 11.19m. 10.39m, and 10.63m respectively with silver from Yousef Khalifa (under 17 men) in 10.79m. Gold medals in the long jump events came from Danielle Erskine, junior lady, in 5.11, Yousef Khalifa 5.19m, Elijah Montez-Brown 4.27m. Olivia Montez-Brown earned a second jumps medal with a 5.01m silver in the long jump. Bronzes came from James McMahon with 4.94m and Georgia Barlow 3.98m for U13 girls’ broinze. Other Long jump competitors were Zack Barnsley 4.96m, Dave McKay 5.65m, Sophie Hemingborough 3.00m, Abbie Williams 2.84m, Alice Barnsley 3.91m, Charlotte Williamson 4.25m.
Our throwers, as always did us proud. Hammer throw competitors U17 lady Jenni Potter was first with a distanced of 29.29m, whilst Dave KcKay (Man) and Senior Lady Nicola Gore were second in 42.31m and 25.85m respectively. Richard Stocker took bronze in the Senior Men discus, whilst Dave rounded off a busy weekend with throws of 28.79m (discus), shot putt bronze with 12.28m and a superb effort to win senior men javelin gold with 63.03m. Nicola Gore collected two gold medals in the senior ladies Discus (34.31m and Shot putt (9.83m). Not to be outdone, the younger athletes also added to the haul with James McMahon winning bronzes in javelin (26.75n) and shot (7.29m). Max Himbury (U15boy) and Yousef Khalifa collected silver medals in their shot putt events with throws of 10.38m and 9.38m, Elijah Montez-Brown and Johnson took silver and bronze with throws of 19.45m and 18.96m in the under 13 boys’ javelin. Kelly Baker gained two golds and a silver medal in the U17 ladies Shot (10.66m), Javelin (22.65m) and Discus 27.85m, with Olivia Montez Bfown winning shot putt bronze in 8.91m. Max Himbury was second with a putt of 10.38m. Sophie Percival launched the discus to a distance of 16.91m. Sophie Baker and Georgia Barlow took home medals in the U13girls throwing events with silver (5.56m) and bronze (5.16m) in the shot putt. Discus positions remained the same with throws of 13.20m and 10.70m, whilst Sophie launched the javelin to 18.79m for a third silver medal.
Sprint medals came from Matthew Pagan (U15 boys bronze) together with Laura Rigby and Rachel Treloar U17 lady bronze and Junior lady silver, who all had identical times of 13.07. At the bottom end of her age group Alice Barnsley stormed home in a time of 10.91m to take U13 girls’ 75m silver, with Aidan Stoakley also lfinishing second in the Junior Mens’ race (11.49m). Max Himbury gold in the U15 boys’ 100m and 200m events in times of 12.51m and 25.40m. Zack Barnsley made it a one/two by taking 100m (12.71) and 200m silver. Other sprinters taking part were Abbie Williams (U13G 100m) 12.42, Yousef Khalifa (U17M 100m) 12.85, Georgia Barlow and Sophie Baker – U13 girls’ 75m 11.06 and 12.38 respectively, and Jack Johnson (U13B 200m) 33.64, Alice Barnsley (150m – 21.74), An exceptionally thrilling race in the U5 girls 80m hurdles saw Charlotte Williamson just edged into silver medal position with a time of 13.15. Gold in the U17 ladies 300m hurdles went to Alice Jennings (49.83) and silver to Gemma Hale in the Junior ladies 400m hudles race (74.75). Victoria Anderson was third in the junior ladies 100m hurdles (16.18). Tom Booth was the winner in the junior mens’ 400m hurdles in 56.77m. Demonstrating the versatility that makes her one of the country’s top multi eventers, Olivia Montez Brown was a clear winner in the U17 ladies’ 80m hurdles (12.25m).
It was great this year to see more entries from the club’s distance runners, and whilst the gold medals went to the two seniors in the form of Rob Tudor and Cathal O’Connor, the juniors produced some good runs. Rob and Cathal were first in the 3000m and 800m in times of 9.15.44 and 1.57.16. Brother and sister duo Josh and Amy Hinchly competed over the two days running the 800m and 1500m Josh and Cameron Weaver finished the 1500m almost together in times of 5.13.43 and 5.13.85 with finishing in 5.09.39. Megan McEveley finished the 1500m in 5.35.91. With the 800m events being run as time trials, it was not immediately clear who would be the medal winners, particularly in the younger age groups. Sophie Hemingborough ran her first 800m championship event finishing in 2.49.27, with Joseph Morrison finishing strongly in 2.39.46. Amy Hinchly picked 800m bronze in 2.28.92, whilst her training mates Megan McEveley and Natasha finished in times of 2.40.12 and 2.44.79 respectively. Last, but not least, Josh and Cameron finished their two lap race in 2.37.24 and 2.41.25.
