Alec claimed first place in the junior men’s category and seventh place overall with a time of 34 minutes 34 seconds at the Sutton Six 10k Road Race, organised by West Cheshire AC, at Guilden Sutton, Chester.Alec was West Cheshire’s first finisher at the third round of the Summer Multi-Terrain League race held at Harrison Drive, Leasowe. He covered the 4.3 miles course in a time of 25 minutes eight seconds for fifth place in the under 20 junior men’s category and ninth place overall.

New County best performance at NW Combined Events open meeting

Carl Van Schie scored a new PB of 6114 points to set a new Cheshire County Championship Best Performance at the North West Combined Events open meeting at Sportcity Manchester. This score also placed him first in the overall competition.

West Cheshire AC members experience English Schools’

Seven West Cheshire AC members experienced the two-day English Schools’ Track and Field Championships at Gateshead.
Junior boy Chris Goodwin finished 4th in his heat of the 800m with a time of 2.6.13

Inter girls- Bryony Potter, clocked 42.15 for 7th place in her heat of the 300m and Sam Galley 5th in her heat of the 200m with a time of 26.11

Junior girls- Alice McMahon came 6th in her 200m with a time of 26.54 and Alice Jennings cleared 1-47m for joint 8th in the high jump competition.
They then teamed up for Cheshire in the 4x100m relay and secured fourth place in their heat with a time of 52.42

Senior girls- Kate Titlow finished 14th in a time of 10:58.89 in the 3,000m and Sian Kelman posted 5.37m for 7th position in the long jump.
Kate and Sian then combined in the 4x10m relay and finished second for Cheshire in their heat with a time of 49.81s, and sixth in the final.

Dave McKay launched a throw to a best mark of 63.74m for 10th position at the Olympic Trials held at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium.

Carl Van Schie posts a new personal best points total of 6,082.

Carl Van Schie posted a new personal best points total of 6,082 to finish 13th in the Hexham Combined Events International. Carl competed against athletes from Holland, Lithuania, USA, Tunisia and some of the best Great Britain decathletes including Dean Macey who was chasing 8000 points for the Olympic A standard.
Carl’s results included 11.76 seconds for his 100m, a long jump of 6.38m, a new best put of 10.86m in the shot, a 1-77m clearance in the high jump, and 51.21 seconds in the 400m.
Day two included a 17.40 seconds run in the 110m hurdles, a throw of 33.62m in the discus, a new best of 3-80m in the pole vault, and a time of 4:40.54 in the 1500m.

Dave McKay invited to Olympic Trials

The West Cheshire AC all-rounder has experienced his best season ever in the javelin after capturing the Cheshire title and nailing a new personal best while representing Cheshire in the CAU Inter-Counties Meeting staged at Bedford.
The Ellesmere Port-based thrower, who has thrown a new best distance of 70.43m this year, has been a key figure in West Cheshire AC’s Northern Track and Field League squad and has helped the club into second place after two rounds of the four-round series of fixtures.

Dave will travel to compete in the Olympic Trials javelin event which is scheduled to be held at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium, on July 11-13.

Northern Athletics Senior and U20 Championships

Dave Mckay wins silver with a new Javelin PB and club record with a massive throw of 70.43m. Lauren Hunt also won silver in the discus 34.80m, Sian Kelman won bronze in the long jump and achieved a new club record 5.46m.

Northern League, Wavertree

Dave McKay powered his way to a hat-trick of victories.The Cheshire Men’s County Javelin champion played a key role in helping West Cheshire AC secure 3rd position in the 2nd round of the Northern Track and Field League held at Wavertree, Liverpool.
With a throw of 61.88m in the javelin, he added further maximum points from the shot (12.50m), and the 110m hurdles (18.2 seconds). Dave was joined by Merseyside County 800m champion, Alex Haswell, who rounded the two laps in a time of 2:00.1. Michael Lyness, won the B 400m hurdles in 65.9s, and the B pole vault with a clearance of 2-90m, while Andrew Gore launched himself to 3.00m in the A pole vault and the B javelin (44.57m).
Nicola Gore spearheaded the charge from the ladies squad with a double success story.
The Cheshire county champion delivered a winning put of 10.96m in the shot and spun the discus to a top mark of 37.89m, adding second spot in the hammer (32.24m).
Sam Galley blasted her way to victory in the B 100m (13.0 seconds), while Rebecca Grimes negotiated the B 400m hurdles in 77.1 seconds for success.
Emily Clarke B long jump of 5.01m alongside Sian Kelman who finished second with 5.39m.

England Athletics Combined Events Championships

Decathlete Carl Van Schie finished 15th in the England Athletics Combined Events Competition and 2nd in the North of England competition held at Alexander Stadium Birmingham,with a final points total of 6002. From a starting line up of 26 competitors Carl achieved personal best performances in the 100m 11.34s and High Jump 1.79m .
