Sport Relief has a unique history of dedicated people doing extraordinary things to go the extra mile. Last September, David Walliams started Sport Relief off with an epic splash when he completed the BT Sport Relief Challenge: Walliams vs The Thames. Despite battling a nasty bacterial bug and bitingly cold water, David swam a staggering 140 miles, and has so far raised over £1million for Sport Relief. Work has now started on the Stanney Oaks Athletics Track and members are being requested to stay away from the track and field facilities until further notice.

The club can still use the indoor facilities, but please treat the track and field facilities as out of bounds until the repair work has been completed.

With the prospect of a new leisure centre appearing on the Stanney Oaks School site (final build 2015), we need club members to put ideas in place which will enhance the existing facilities we currently use. The Conference is an opportunity to discuss and debate your ideas, not just about our facilities, but about the club as a whole and about the direction we want to move in.

The event will include a selection of tea/coffee, a buffet lunch (sandwiches, chips, salad), mineral water, and confectionery.

Two West Cheshire Athletic Club teenagers will experience their very own Olympic Games when they head to London in May.Olivia Montez-Brown and Kelly Baker have been selected to compete at the UK School Games in the capital between May 6 and 9.
Olivia, a pupil at Ellesmere Port Catholic High, and Kelly, a pupil at Bishop\’s Bluecoat High, Chester, will compete in the Olympic Park in an event that will be a forerunner to the Olympic Games scheduled to take place in July and August.
Olivia, 15, is currently ranked 18th for the under 17 women\’s 60m hurdles in the UK and 12th for her age group for indoor long jump competitions.
The all-rounder won the Northern Indoor Under 17 Women\’s Long Jump Championship title at Sheffield last month after being crowned Cheshire champion in May.
Olivia represented Cheshire at the English Schools\’ Combined Events Championships at Exeter in September, and is currently ranked 13th in the UK heptathlon ranking lists for her age.
Baker, who celebrated her 16th birthday this week, is excited at the prospect of her trip to London after winning the under 17 women\’s shot put title with 11.72m at Sheffield in last month\’s Northern Indoor Championships.
Ranked third for her age in the UK ranking lists for shot put, Baker won both the Cheshire County Schools and Clubs titles and celebrated success at the Inter Counties Schools Championship staged at Birmingham.
She finished third at last year\’s UK Schools Games at Sheffield\’s Don Valley Stadium with a put of 11.39m.
The talented duo will rub shoulders with the most talented young athletes during the four day event which provides the nation’s school children the opportunity to really feel like they are part of the Olympic experience.
A total of 35,000 people are expected to be present on the Olympic Park during the School Games which will present a great chance for thousands of young people from School Games-registered schools to join in the excitement.
The Games will feature around 2,000 young people as competitors, volunteers, officials, reporters and stadium announcers clearly showing the range of roles that young people can play in the organisation and delivery of major sporting events.

West Cheshire AC youngsters grabbed two regional titles and a fistful of medals at Wigan.The purple-vested club celebrated team victories in both the under 15 boys and under 13 girls competitions at the North West Sportshall Athletics League Finals staged at Robin Park, Wigan.
James McMahon, Zac Barnsley, Matthew Pagan, Chris Harrop, Ben Morris, and Connor Norbury teamed up to earn West Cheshire ACs under 15 boys a title victory.
McMahon, Barnsley, Harrop and Pagan concluded the day with a sprint relay success, while McMahon won gold medals in the four lap race, and vertical jump; Barnsley won the standing triple jump and standing long jump titles; Pagan won the speed bounce, and Morris and Harrop combined for victory in the eight lap parlaaf.
Georgia Barlow, Sophie Baker, Samhilda Megonigle, Alice Barnsley, Sophie Hemingbrough, Abbi Williams, Sophie Carter, Ella Robson, and Bethany Lewis combined to earn West Cheshire AC the under 13 girls team title.
Megonigle, Barnsley, Barlow and Lewis won the sprint relay; Megonigle won gold in both the two lap and standing long jump; Barnsley claimed gold in the two lap; and Baker won the speed bounce.
Sophie Percival, Emily Ball, Megan McEveley, Emily Wood, Georgina Moulton, Charlotte Williamson, and Ellen McMahon teamed up for West Cheshire ACs under 15 girls who finished second team.
Williamson won gold in the two lap, and Ball hit a winning put of 9.22m in the shot, while the sprint relay team of Percival, Ball, Wood and Williamson clinched gold medals.
Taylor Kearns, Cameron Weaver, Tom Harrop, Joseph Morrison, Hari Britton, and Jack Johnson joined forces to earn West Cheshire ACs under 13 boys third team position.
Weaver won gold medals in both the six lap and speed bounce, while Jack Johnson claimed a silver medal in the speed bounce, and Kearns clinched a bronze medal in the shot.
Alex Earl, Sam Grinter, Eamonn O Connell, Will Scott, Ewan Brandon, Paul Morrison, Jac Goodall, Ewan Bradley, James Adamson, Adam Howe, and Daniel Pagan claimed third team position for West Cheshire ACs under 11 boys.
Grinter won the javelin, and Goodall was runner-up in the chest push.
Anna Crayston, Molly Jones, Ellie Finn, Emma Howe, Niamh Weaver, Jasmin Parrott, Kate Kenworthy, Beth McMahon, Tasmin O Keefe, Maggie Corr, and Annabel Hemingbrough teamed up for West Cheshire ACs under 11 girls who finished joint third.
Howe won the javelin and O Keefe finished third in the standing triple jump.

Rob Tudor and Kelly Baker celebrated success at West Cheshire ACs annual presentation evening held at Chester Rugby Club.Tudor was presented with the Mens Cup after producing a series of impressive track, road and cross country performances during the last 12 months.
The over-45 veteran is currently ranked number one in the UK in his age group for the mile after clocking four minutes 39 seconds, and he played a key role in helping his club win promotion during the North Staffs Cross Country League campaign, and he completed the year by representing England in the British and Irish Masters Crosss Country International held at Bellahouston Park, Glasgow.
Baker was presented with the Ruth Shellhorn Womens Cup by West Cheshire AC president, Joe Shellhorn.
The teenager, who retained her Northern Indoor Shot Put title in Sheffield earlier this month, competed at the UK Schools Games last year and won both Cheshire and Northern outdoor titles as well as contributing towards her clubs Young Athletes Track and Field League Premier Division and Northern Track and Field League point-scoring.
Andrew Clague and Mary Radford were awarded the annual West Cheshire AC Endurance Running Cups.
Clague won the mens competition from second placed Dave Hough and Max Woods in third position, while Radford won the womens competition from joint second placed team mates Lisa Davies and Sacha Kendall-Woods.
Ali Burkett was presented with the Wright Cup, and the female age group award winners were under 11s Anna Williams and Emma Howe; under 13s Alice Barnsley and Georgia Barlow; under 15s Emily Ball and Charlotte Williamson; under 17s Alice McMahon and Jenni Potter; under 20s Bryony Potter; senior women Shona Valentine and Nicola Gore; and veteran women Debra Erskine and Jane Pickering.
Male prize-winners were Jac Goodall and Sam Grinter (under 11s); Cameron Weaver and Elijah Montez-Brown (under 13s); James McMahon and Chris Harrop (under 15s); Michael Bailiff (under 17s); Tom Booth (under 20s); Andrew Gore and Dave McKay (seniors); and Dave Hough (veterans).
