Road Running Training
As West Cheshire AC is a broad-based club with members of all ages competing on and off-road, or just running with like-minded others, we try to offer a variety of training runs and sessions. Whether a tentative beginner, "born again" runner or seasoned club racer, the best introduction to the club is to give one of the following a try (all begin at about 6:30 pm):
The Northgate Arena Monday and Thursday sessions are runs of about an hour, mostly on roads around Chester. Muster points around the run ensure that no one is left behind.
The Tuesday night session from Cheshire County Sports Club, Upton-by-Chester, involves runs of about 90 minutes also around the roads of Chester, interspersed with a few faster efforts. This is for slightly faster runners than the Northgate Arena group, but is still not an "elite" session.
Track sessions for middle and longer distance runners of all ages and abilities are on Tuesday and Thursday nights at the Cheshire Oaks School, Stanney. These are not as daunting as you might think, and can make a big difference to your road racing personal bests.
