Chester Spring 5

A 5 mile road race first held in 1993 from the Cheshire County Sports Club playing fields. The start is on tarmac, the finish on grass. Race limit 400.
The race route uses gently undulating country lanes, generally downhill within the first two miles. At half way there is a short climb before easing to a gradual rise, most of the last mile back to the playing fields is flat. Despite the fall and rise of the course fast times have been recorded.
In 2006 Peter Riley set the course record at 23:23, a few years previously Sue Parker set the ladies' record at 27:24 and the ‘Vet’ record is held by Mike Girvan at 24:29.

This year the race is the first in the Cheshire Grand Prix series.
