Northgate Arena, Chester
The Northgate Arena Leisure Centre: Victoria Road, Chester, CH2 2AU is at the City end of Victoria Road where it meets the Inner Ring Road [St Oswald’s Way].
- A small charge is made at reception for anybody who wishes to use the showers, changing facilities and secure lockers available at Northgate Arena.
We meet in the reception area of the Northgate Arena at 6.30pm to depart at 6.40pm on Monday’s and Thursday’s as a friendly group with mixed abilities.
The sessions have been organised since November 1995 with a bias towards Ladies Running.
The run takes about an hour with several musters (regrouping) to keep the 50min runners from getting too far ahead. It is the way the sessions have been organised since they began over 10 years ago. For those starting or stepping up in distance a modified route can be arranged as all of the routes have cut off points.
- Five routes are used in rotation so if you can only attend on the same evening each week you will still experience them all.
- During the summer, canal and river banks are used to avoid traffic as much as possible. In the winter with different routes, quieter estate roads are used for a similar reason.
- The summer and winter schedules change in March/April and September/October depending on sunset or cloud cover.
