Isobel and George in the medals again

ISOBEL Griffin-Morris and George Hyde powered their way to bronze medals at the England Athletics Track and Field Age Group Championships staged at Bedford.

Griffin Morris finished third in the under 17 womens discus competition, and Hyde bagged a bronze medal in the under 17 mens shot put event.

Andy Carter and Andy Clague secured a one-two finish for West Cheshire AC at the latest Chester parkrun.

Carter posted a new personal best time of 18 minutes 25 seconds for victory, just 17 seconds ahead of Clague who was experiencing his first-ever park run fixture.

Jac Goodall clocked 19:09 in his first-ever park run appearance, ahead of debutant and clubmate Isaac Tait (19:27), and William Wright who clocked a new personal best of 19:48.

Sammy Hollins also posted a new best time of 20:01, ahead of Patrick Tait (20:41), Steve Hillier in a new best of 20:45, Bob Benson (21:01), second lady Tamsin O`Keefe (22:29), Vince Hodges (22:39), Tony Kennedy in a new pb of 23:47, Joe Hollins in a new best of 23:57, and debutant Ellen McMahon (fourth lady in 24:18).

Dave Bish clocked a new best of 25:09, ahead of Adam Carlile (25:49), Brian Beattie (27:14), debutants Beth McMahon (28:03) and Ingrid Tait (33:52), and Anne-Marie Tait (33:53).

ROB FREEMAN headed West Cheshire AC`s contingent at the Ellesmere Port parkrun, clocking 23:05 for 12th position.

He was followed home by Harvey Tegg (14th in 23:30), Louis Tegg (24:35), Julian Tegg (24:36), Rosemary Rogers (fourth lady in 24:53), Ben Mustafa (25:03), Paul Morrison (26:10), and Jack Brett (26:17).

ROSEMARY ROGERS represented West Cheshire AC at the Wirral Seaside Run and won the over-65 lady age group category with a time of 24:16.

ENTRIES are now being accepted for next month`s Guilden Sutton Six 10k Road Race being organised by West Cheshire Athletic Club on Sunday, September 18.

WEST CHESHIRE AC will be represented in next month`s Wirral Multi-Terrain Running League Series which starts on Tuesday, September 6, at Royden Park, Frankby (7pm), and other fixtures include round two at Wirral Country Park, Thurstaston, on Tuesday, September 13 (7pm), round three at Harrison Drive, North Wirral Country Park, Wallasey, on Tuesday, September 20, (6.30pm), and the final round at Arrowe Park, Birkenhead, on Tuesday, September 27, (6.30pm).

ENTRIES are now being accepted for the Final Fling Throws Meeting at Wrexham on Saturday and Sunday, September 24 and 25. More details can be found at:

LOCAL primary and secondary schools are being invited to take part in this winter`s four round Essar West Cheshire AC Schools Cross Country Race Series being held at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village Athletics Track on Saturdays, October 8, November 12, February 11, and March 4, (10am start for all dates).

FIXTURES for this season`s North Staffs Cross Country League series have been released.

Round One on Saturday, October 1, will be held at Knights Grange, Winsford, and the second round will be staged at Park Hall Country Park, on Saturday, October 29; while round three is at Keele University on Saturday, November 19; and the final round is at Stafford Common on Saturday, December 17.

WEST CHESHIRE AC will host the second round of the Borders Road Running League on Sunday, November 6.

The full list of dates and host clubs is: October 9 (Eryri Harriers); November 6 (West Cheshire); December 4 (Birkenhead); January 22 (Deeside); March 12 (Wirral); April 9 (Helsby); April 26 (Wrexham).

FIXTURES this week include the UK Schools Games from Thursday until Sunday, at Loughborough, the Deestriders Off Road Grand Prix Race at Shotton on Friday (7pm), the Llyn Brenig Race on Saturday, and the final round of the Cheshire Track and Field League at Wrexham`s Queensway Stadium on Sunday (12 noon start).
