West Cheshires Great at Northerns

THREE West Cheshire Athletic Club members are celebrating podium places. Emily Misantoni, Emma Howe and Georgia Barlow all secured medals at the Northern Track and Field Championships held at Middlesbrough Sports Village.

Misantoni was crowned under 13 girls 800m champion after clocking two minutes 25.16 seconds, six tenths of a second in front of her nearest rival Natasha Stephenson, from Gateshead.

Howe launched the javelin to a winning mark of 36.13m to earn the under 15 girls title, ahead of Bobbie Griffiths Morpeth, with 35.69m, and Caitlin Illingworth (City of Sheffield) in third spot with 30.33m.

And Barlow returned home with two bronze medals from the under 17 womens 100m and 200m.

She clocked a best for this season of 25.62 seconds in the 200m to finish less than a second behind the eventual winner, and posted 12.53 seconds for third spot in the 100m.
Adam Howe was the other West Cheshire youngster in action, clocking 29.05 seconds for seventh position in the under 13 boys 200m.

CAMERON WEAVER and Ethan Greenland secured first and second places at the Delamere Park Run with times of 17:27 and 18:10 respectively.

They were joined at the event by Charlie Weaver (35th in 22:25); Beth McMahon (15th lady and 85th overall in 24:57); and Ellen McMahon (40th lady and 146th overall in 28:37).

BOB FREEMAN was first home for West Cheshire AC at the Ellesmere Port Park Run, posting 20:12 for fifth spot, ahead of Bob Benson (18th in 21:34); Rosemary Rogers (seventh lady and 32nd overall in 23:55); Clare Mallon (ninth lady and 35th overall in 24:32); and Peter Smith (36th in 24:35).
