Northern Athletics Junior Championships

Alice Jennings wins a gold medal at the Northern Athletics track and field championships.The talented West Cheshire AC youngster claimed the under 15 girls’ high jump title with a clearance of 1-60m at Robin’s Park, Wigan.
Alice, who also finished sixth in the shot with 8.03m, was joined at the event by Chris Goodwin who won a silver medal in his debut 3,000m appearance, with a time of 10:16.90 seconds for second position in the under 15 boys race.
Bryony Potter took the silver medal in the under 17 women’s 300m with a time of 41.31 seconds, and finished fifth in her 200m final (25.69).
Michael Lyness won two bronze medals in the under 17 men’s discus (40.09m) and high jump (1-80m).
Other West Cheshire AC finalists included Jenni Potter finished 5th in 12.27s in the under 15 girls 75m hurdles; Aamir Walwyn 7th in the under 17 men’s 400m in 52.09s, Tom Booth who was 5th in the under 17 men’s 400m hurdles in 62.55s.
